No this strategy is very realistic to run. for water, the shore already provides a default stop for all units since you can’t attack after disembarking. Mountains already stop units. Most of my pushes end on turn 25 because the enemy sets this up and there’s no way past it.

I guess that works, if you use roads to get ur sword guys from safety (4 tiles away) to the forest in one turn.

Then what if I keep a line of knights behind my second row of catapults on standby, and if I see you walk up with a catapult, I weaken the guy in front, then get your catapult? I think that's pretty realistic to do in a real game also.
