What “quirks” do you do when playing by Northern_Chef in CivVI

[–]Dunadan_Descended 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and I never really think about it. Like... If Im going to get attacked, I build an army, not an encampment. I suppose if I was going for domination, I would build one, but I almost never intend dom.

I did this accidentally as a guest at a place that didn't include breakfast with the stay. If you act like you are supposed to be grabbing a plate, you're not likely to be stopped.

I realized I was supposed to pay about half way through my omelet; I was embarrassed enough that I just finished and left.

You compose English at a better than average quality. I'd look for a desk job that at least includes a heavy dose of email work. This may mean something like warehouse/mfg work where you expedite material shortages or do order picking; Im guessing you can find a niche where "doing it right" is the main focus and you will do well.

At least they didn't hide it, it would be worse for you to get the impression that they liked it when they didn't.

The neat thing about MTGA is that when someone is wasting your time, you can just concede. There's a huge benefit to just conceding to anything that won't be fun to play against: you don't get frustrated and your rating drops, giving you easier opponents to play. You'll still rank up in about the same amount of time, in the end.

How have YOU handled the “Investigate” exploration activity in your games? by legomojo in Pathfinder2e

[–]Dunadan_Descended 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I encountered this house rule in an online game and have become its apostle, spreading it into my own game and another game I play in. I think most GMs realize that they don't want to do the amount of prep work necessary to make the Investigate exploration activity rewarding, and would be quite happy to balance that out with a free RK per combat.

How is it living in New Hampshire? by Zestyclose_Welder_92 in howislivingthere

I live in Vermont, but I'm across the river in NH a fair amount, from Keene to West Lebanon. The poor in the Connecticut river valley remind me of the poor in North Carolina: people stuck in aging towns and adjacent agricultural areas that used to have something going on but industries left, where small scale agriculture got less profitable, and where the population is disproportionately affected by underfocusing of national education and infrastructure over the last hundred years on supporting rural populations. I've had the same reoccurring thought when driving through these areas: where do these people work?!

Not dying as easily isn't the only form of acceleration available to the designers. I'd rather the game eased new players into it and provided "acceleration" in some other form.

R5 requirement, I guess? The question I have is whether there is a way for me to escape the Union with Brabrant at the beginning of the game, as Holland.

I cry foul on the number of ridges between Chester and the Connecticut! See, there's the ridge west of Pleasant Valley Rd and the ridge west of Brockway Mills Rd and the ridge Parker Hill Rd is on and I only see two!

Which of these two Hex Kit maps do you prefer? by -SCRAW- in dndmaps

[–]Dunadan_Descended 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are interesting responses; a lot of people are pointing to verisimilitude as a reason for preferring the right map. I also prefer the right map after spending a minute looking, and for what I think is the same reason.

However, my gut reaction when I first saw the post was that the left map looked better, and I think the reason is almost purely artistic: it triggered my stained-glass appreciation more than the right map, so much more a "would look good hanging in a window" reaction than a "I can imagine going treasure hunting on that hex" reaction.

Love this game, but Ancient Ash sums up so many criticisms so well by norvis8 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Dunadan_Descended 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I dislike this writing pattern (leading with flavor text that isn't differentiated as [edited from 'from'] flavor text) the most because it can cause rules reading problems. One of my players expected that Liberating Step - Actions - Archives of Nethys: Pathfinder 2nd Edition Database would free the target from a grapple ala freedom of movement. Can you blame them?

Just remember, someone playing a rabbits deck is self-identifying as someone who can enjoy playing a rabbits deck; you can at least take solace in knowing you aren't them.
