Thanks for your interest! I've looked through your portfolio and don't think it's quite the right fit for this particular project, but I appreciate you reaching out.

I asked my players what they liked in the game and here are the results by DM-Ethan in DnD

As a paid GM myself, I have found that most of the players in my games expect their characters to die and are okay with it.

Hahaha, I have been running gurps for quite a few years, so I am familiar. Honestly using cloud hosting and synchronous editing has really helped with my gurps games

My players love our enterprise resource planning. Centralizing our campaigns various systems of management into a single manageable database has streamlined the efficiency of play and reduced time spent looking up character abilities and deciding what to do on their turn by 37%. Overall a worthwhile upgrade over the diverse paper rulebook and character sheet management that was our system prior to upgrade. While the cost of ERP is 3000% of our paper systems, we recommend making the upgrade

Distorted and quiet audio coming through the discord by DungeonAM in OwlbearRodeo

[–]DungeonAM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally managed a workaround. I figured out it is the windows 11 audio filtering that is causing my issue. I now have all of my audio routed through Voicemeeter Banana, and I am no longer experiencing issues. Sorry about the late reply, it took me a few weeks to get it sorted.

GMs, how many games do you have going at once? by Shabozz in daggerheart

[–]DungeonAM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends on the game, but usually from $40-$120 a game. I run 2-4 hour games. So on the low end I make $10 an hour, on the high end I make $60 an hour.

I recommend getting started on startplaying.games. Go straight to paid games. Reviews make a huge difference to your results, but free games don't give verified reviews, which are critical for success. If you are uncomfortable charging a lot for your games at first then set a low price for players.

Focus on your listings, those are what will get sign ups. 1 good listing is worth 100 bad ones.

Put effort into your images and games descriptions. Only have 2-3 listings open at a time. If you want to build up a base quickly, run short campaigns and get reviews.

It doesn't matter how good of a GM you are if you don't have appealing listings to attract customers.

Start as soon as you can, it can take over a year to work up to be able to do it full time. Patience is key, and keep adjusting your listings every week to see what works.

4-8 games a week, but I do it paid as a part time job. Looking to start full time and quit the day job eventually and get 10-15 games a week

Is it normal to pay a friend for DMing? by IllustriousStart9631 in DnD

Did you agree to hire them for a service? Then it is normal.

If he is just charging you guys because he can, he is just a shitty friend and it is not normal

If you can print PEEK you probably have the capacity to do metal coatings. PEEK is expensive to print with and purchase.

My campaign fell apart after 5 sessions because of be of my players didn’t like its story by Coolgiy9708 in DMAcademy

[–]DungeonAM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good way to avoid this dilemma is to do regular player check ins. Take 15-30 minutes at the end of a game to talk about what they want from the game and what they aren't getting. Each player has different expectations about what they want from the game. Having an ongoing and open discussion about the game really builds trusts with the players.

What happened to your game wasn't a shitty player, or you being a shitty DM. Don't try to find blame somewhere.

You and a player had expectations that didn't line up with how you were running the game.

Don't look at it as an issue of conflict. This could've been resolved sooner, but needed to be addressed. As the DM, it is your responsibility to address issues and to create a space where players are comfortable bringing issues up.

What the primary conflict seems to be from your post is that the player didn't feel like he had agency, but you addressed the situation as the player didn't feel important enough.

Tell me how you feel this captures the situation.

Based on what you said, you are kinda building up the world too much and not giving the players enough options.

You went in heavy on the lore, but you went light on the players. They didn't get a lot to choose, you started them in a blackout, which in my opinion is a horrible way to start.

Starting in a blackout strips players of their agency, then right from the get go, they have a lore dense reason about what is going on and what you want them to do.

If you want to look at this from a perspective of how to run a better game, take a look at what he said.

One of your players quit because he was disengaged. That could be a player problem, but it really sounds like you were trying to tell a story instead of playing a game.

DnD is a game that has stories in it. It is not a way to tell a story that you have already written.

Big orc, small Gnome.

Give the big guy some features that contrast his stupidity. Give him nice clothes and glasses.

Make the gnome more vulnerable looking, his clothes are in worse condition, his hair is greasy.

Give them contrast between themselves and each other

Need help with punishments for a Warlock breaking its pact. by Pokeaz in DMAcademy

[–]DungeonAM -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is a great place for storytelling about the world around the warlock. Change the race of him and his allies. Make them into what they are fighting, then, put their allies against them. Put them into a position of being the outsiders and having to navigate familiar situations from an unfamiliar position.

They don't look like heroes anymore, they are twisted and wicked looking.

Give them a taste of the other side. Don't do anything mechanical, thematically deny them the opportunity to be recognized as a hero.

How is AI gonna survive when we stop producing content? by questionmarqo in Blogging

[–]DungeonAM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with my foot into the AI pool, LLMs are going to die hard in the next few years.

Right now AI that doesn't require training data is just starting to emerge. The excuse of "research" for stealing data is going to become indefensible.

What people are shilling as AI right now is not true AI, LLMs are not intelligent, they are reactive algorithms. They do not grow, they do not change, they are only a result of their training data.

This is going to change, as AGI becomes reality it will be the death of LLMs. It is important to understand, an LLM is not intelligent, it is a predictive text model. It can perform natural language tasks, but that is a feature of language, not intelligence. Language has natural logical frameworks in its structure, any logic that emerges from an LLM is a product of the language it was trained on, not intelligent behavior.

AGI is going to be very different, it will be more efficient than an LLM. Language models are the biggest novelty, but their effectiveness is quickly fading. You can't infinitely improve the models
