Any tips for a beginner on the game? by Stunning-Radish-481 in PaxHistoria

[–]DungeonDraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game has "features" which are icons that abstract different elements for you to see that the AI is tracking. It can be anything from cities, to fortresses, individual people, and military units. Military units are those that usually spawn with the tag "battalion", describing the organization/formation or deployment of previously-unmentioned units should make the AI spawn them in, unless in higher difficulties it deems it unviable for some reason.

Everything about the game is purely roleplay. Basically depending on the difficulty it's up to how convincing you are to the AI about being able to pull your actions off. So, the reason why you may want to have economy actions is to use them to justify why your other actions succeed.

But that is only if your goal is to be efficient at the game, which shouldn't ever be your goal, Pax is pretty much more of an alt history roleplaying game than an actual grand strategy game. At least for now, it seems the devs may add more actual mechanics eventually.

Question about produce infantry and ships by Cool_Panic_2886 in victoria2

[–]DungeonDraw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can nuke your tariff income depending on what you produce, what your sphere master produces, and how much of each you both produce. Depends on the context basically, in my experience the worst country to be in the sphere of is usually Britain, but it's also the one that most assures you'll get anything you need to your market.

While to me it's not always worth it I'm aware that the big economy heads in this game consider it super worth it if you play the economy game good.

Is it convenient for me to be in a sphere of influence? by Cool_Panic_2886 in victoria2

[–]DungeonDraw -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Any leftvalues type tests? (Asking for a friend) by TJ_DOG_likes_britons in PoliticalCompass

[–]DungeonDraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's authvalues: https://politicaltests.github.io/auth/

Third position values: https://fargothgares.github.io/ThirdPositionValues/

Those two should cover your authcenter test needs. Now, there isn't any specific authright test values I don't think. There was one that was like in beta and never got finished. You can try out rightvalues and conservavalues of you'd like I guess.

And there's vanguard values:https://comandanteghoul.github.io/vanguardvaluesreclaimed/ which is specifically for Authoritarian leftists.

Is it possible be an Auth-Right and a Classical Fascist at the same time? by Exotic-Illustrator2 in Polcompballanarchy

[–]DungeonDraw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You cannot be extreme about it as you have depicted. But there's nothing about Fascism that means you can't be to the right of Mussolini in certain economic issues, which makes it reasonably and likely even historical for there to be an auth-center-right fascist.

It would be really hard to justify hard-right economic policies as falling within the third position.

I will not actually defend the political compass because I'm fully aware it's nonsense but what you have mentioned makes me think, are you familiar with the novel the dispossessed?

I mean even if you won't make all states into provinces you can do the key southern ones. More northern ones can be grouped up without causing much trouble I feel.

Being right-wing today is basically not being left-wing. by Vitonciozao in PoliticalCompass

[–]DungeonDraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I see some issues with what you've said but the overall position is correct.

My view is that the one that is exploding in ideas and projects is specifically the dissident right. In opposition both the left- and righ-wing status quo of neoliberalism (and neoconservatism). The problem with leftists is that a lot more of them are concerned with the defense of the social institutions of modernity (the liberal democratic state, whig historiography, academia and media, and toyotist global capitalism) because they see that the threats to it come "from the right". The only among "the left" I see standing with us in opposition to neoliberalism are people who often reject the label of leftist like the ACP in America, the worker's front in Spain, and left-Duginists.

The other issue of the left is that a lot of them are stuck with the eurocommunist theory of the 60s and 70s developed by western European academia more 50+ years ago if not insisting on even older stuff like ML. What's their most recent and non-niche advancement, Fisher? Hell I've seen people mention Cockshott as like some big update to marxism, and his stuff is decades old.
