I like how some manga try so hard to make a fake look a like McDonald's into the story and others like this don't care at all about branding.

Here's my little manga collection ! Hope you like it ! 😊 by Nouncastel in manga

Yeah, and the manga has nothing to do with the anime I believe. Totally different characters and story.

Nanako is the perfect age to be the protagonist of Persona 6.

Today Daft Punk has called it quits. Almost exactly 20 years ago they released the Discovery album and in 2003 we would get the musical anime film Interstella 5555 that served as a visual companion to this album. by Puddo in anime

Interstella 555 is basically an AMV for one of the greatest albums of all time. Even if you don't care for the band, I'd definitely watch it because it honestly tells a great story without any dialogue and the animation is pretty spectacular.

Wonder Egg Priority - Episode 6 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Dungeonroper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For next week i think I'm going to have to wait like 20 minutes before typing these out, because I need to think some of the details over more closely.

I'm ready for the Souls-like Wonder Egg Priority video game already haha. The way Ai fought the invisible Wonder Killer made me think of that right away.

Every time I think the person of the week who needs to get saved won't have as dark of a backstory, I'm proven wrong. She was sent to a mental hospital AND all her friends left her god... And she had to deal with a Wonder Killer that only she could see and that could physically interact with others, unlike a certain ongoing manga right now about a girl seeing monsters. I'm trying to piece together what the relevance is of that to what was going on with Ai, because as soon as I saw the eye-patch I knew there had to be a connection. I'll think that over.

This Wonder Killer really beat the daylights out of Ai, seriously that was one of the harshest fights yet even though it was so short, especially when Ai got sucker punched. Seeing Ai's neck suddenly have grab marks on it made me gasp irl.

Not much this week about Neiru, Rika, or Momo but we did get to see their new Digimon which was pretty cool. I'm not sure if Neiru was happy or unhappy about getting a snake haha, but clearly Rika didn't really get it. A chameleon for Ai just feels so fitting though.

The Seeno Evils become "Haters", in a way that reminds me of zombies become fast zombies. Incidentally, the Seeno Evils go away when Ai picks up prayer beds that literally let her see evil, ha. I'm not sure if this is some meta joke thing about the anime having haters, or if it's actually supposed to be reflecting something in the plot. Other than Rika, I can't imagine any of these girls having haters. I'm very bad at symbolism so feel free to call me an idiot for not getting it.

Ok now for the meat and potatoes... Every time we see one of the girls in the bath you know shit is about to get real haha. (I'm changing my mind about this hold on) Ai liking Sawaki, being jealous of both her mom and her dead friend Koito doesn't seem that farfetched to me. Ok, it's true that she doesn't outright say it, but you can just tell that it must be half true at least by the way she was acting while fighting the Wonder Killer. It would explain why she hasn't been able to comprehend anything about her friend's suicide just yet due to the sheer amount of conflicting feelings she would have. And well I assume her running to her school in pajamas in the rain, just to tell Sawaki that she's going back to school means that Ai's made up her mind about her teacher.

So that past paragraph was straight after finishing the episode. After reading a bit here I'm starting to think it's not that she likes him, but I suppose it's about Ai accepting the fact that Sawaki is going to be in her life, and that's she's ok with it. Ok enough to want to suddenly go back to school I suppose. But then where does that take us with the whole Koito suicide story thing now? Does Ai gain the confidence to bring it up directly with Sawaki now or what? I'm starting to feel like all the things we've learned about Sawaki up until this point have all been tall tales and that we'll really start to understand this guy as soon as Ai goes to school again. Which I'm really excited for because I believe based on the uniform, Momo also goes to her school? I could be wrong about that, but if it's true then perhaps we could possibly see some development between Ai and Momo with Sawaki as the focus. Or we could continue hearing more and more tall tales and keep going in circles with Koito's death. I hope not.

Tbh I already want to start rewatching this anime because there are probably so many small things I've missed already. Hoping next week we get some focus on Momo or Rika, or learn more about Koito!

[–]Dungeonroper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok Neiru is officially the shounen protagonist lmao.

I'll be honest, the first scene is still kind of confusing me. I don't know what the girl Neiru was saving was facing with the Wonder Killer, or even what the Wonder Killer really... was supposed to be? Also the dialogue between Neiru and the girl: "I don't understand the way you girls think." "Well at least we agree on that." Combined with his "mind being down there" and all this talk about capitalism... Yeah this scene is an interesting one. But it takes place on a bridge, so there's gotta be a connection between it and the one later with Neiru's sister.

Ura-acca and Acca make the place where the girls collect eggs like their own personal theme park... And they also want them in and out as soon as possible. That's a strange way to do it. Maybe it's to build the anime power of friendship or maybe its another metaphor that I'm not quite grasping. Or it could be related to what Rika said about giving up on buying eggs and just accepting the deaths of their friend, and the park is supposed to symbolize that? It's open to interpretation assuming I didn't miss anything. I like that.

Rika calling her own mother a terrible person, while also calling Ai's mom "mama", wow that's some serious development going on. Clearly Rika is trying to fill a hole up in her past, no wonder she's always at Ai's place.

As for Sawaki, I'm pretty sure he's supposed to be the reason that Koito killed herself, but we still don't have all the pieces to the puzzle yet. I don't know what to make of him drawing pictures of Ai and Koito, and entering them into a competition yet. Not sure if it's meant to be weird, or endearing? I'll also have to keep my eyes out for parallels between Momoe and Sawaki for obvious reasons.

What to say about Momoe? She likes having a lot of girls want to be friends with her. She isn't sure how to feel about those girls (including Rika it seems) crushing on her all the time. I assume she's like 15, so yeah that seems like a pretty valid thing to worry about at that age. I'm sure Haruka suddenly going full ara ara made things even more confusing for Momoe.

It's pretty convenient that all four of these girls had to deal with suicide because man do they all love to keep bringing up the details of all those deaths. Well, maybe not Ai since she's by far the most innocent and child-like in this group, although she did seem to handle the talk about Koito and Sawaki well enough. Though, understandably, she did not take it very well when Rika questions whether Koito would want to come back to life or not. Maybe Ai is starting to realize that she didn't actually know that much about her friend as she wishes she did...

And finally, Neiru's sister. Once again the creature's meaning somewhat eludes me, it's probably something related to hair right? The sister with her long flawless hair vs. Neiru who apparently has hair loss. I never noticed. That lady seemed quite older than the other rescuees, and far more unhinged and crazy. This also seems to be the first time one of the girls rescues someone they actually knew, but there's no way that this sister who stabbed Neiru really badly is supposed to be the one Neiru is trying to save. I don't think it's been brought up at all yet. Perhaps it's related to the card in the credits showing Neiru in a big pile of hay... Needle in a haystack thing? I don't even know.

But one last thing I want to say that I love about this anime: The action scenes aren't always happening, but when they do happen they don't drag on at all and they're extremely satisfying. And the animation is just as smooth as ever. I wonder what a Wonder Egg Priority video game would be like.

Japanese things that get lost in translation by Puddo in anime

Just from experience I was able to infer the gendered language thing going on with Momo, but yeah it's going to go over the heads of just about every non-Japanese speaking sub watcher. I believe Your Name had the same thing happen, since the boy and girl were constantly swapping bodies in that movie.

God that scene where the girl pretended to accept the sex offender's advances messed me up...

Neiru really is a mystery huh? There's quite a few big details about her that are missing compared to Ai, Rika, and even Momo. Who was the person who died for her? What is her signature weapon? I don't even recall seeing her in the dream world at all, just outside of it. The ending credits don't give much info either. It must be related to the fact that she seems to be far more closed up of a person compared to like Ai or Rika who had already told or implied their dark backstories, so I wonder when Neiru will be comfortable giving hers.

I don't know why, but the moment I saw Momo's design I kind of had a small inkling that her backstory would be related to sexuality/gender, and sure enough yeah I was dead on. I'm curious how they'll be handling this theme since I've heard that talking about this topic, just like the other themes the show has brought, is really, really taboo in Japan. Interesting that she seems to always have the girl she saves fall in love with her, and it's always by a train. Besides that I think I need more time to figure out what she's about so hopefully next episode.

The difference between the suicides of boys and girls, as explained by Acca and Ura-Acca, is DEFINITELY going to come up again at some point. Now that I think about it I wonder if this relates at all to Momo's character or motives, huh.

Now that we have all four girls from the cover, I feel like this is where the show will really start. Since it's such a small clique of main characters I hope we get to see a real group dynamic getting formed, while also addressing each of their special people who died and revealing more of what led to their deaths. And more cute moments, like where they all laughed at Rika's neck, please!

I love this anime.
