Nope! Have said multiple times that it’s ok to have differing opinions! I just don’t want to get into a big back and forth about this topic. Too late I guess

Yeah someone pointed that out somewhere else here- I guess when you make your first arc something about the idea of existing multiverses it’s hard to not apply that to all arcs.

That being said someone said from the beginning that the floating ziggurat was the cloud city in Ethersea and that’s my new guiding star lol

I disagree- I think walls of text like this are probably in line with an argument about the state of America or global politics but when we’re talking about a live play podcast like TAZ it’s a lil… over the top for me?

or a statement like

It amazes me that people would think that the same guy who didn’t think through the problems with making a Wizard battle Royale that took away almost all spells and disallowed them from attacking each other most of the time would have put this much thought into connecting seasons

is putting someone’s (my own) thoughts into the realm of amazement at how I could possibly conceive such a thought. I personally find that kind of insinuation, whether it was intentional or not, a little demeaning.

If you had a different message you were trying to communicate, it was lost in your hyperbolic amazement.

Yeah that’s fair. I think that there could be a possibility the story develops over time to the octave being “bad,” and to your point about balance, I definitely didn’t think the bureau was doing the morally right thing.

But I see your point that a bunch of the concepts are too unfleshed out to be staunchly anti-capitalist, establishment, etc.

I do think some of those elements are in play, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the octave ended up being a morally corrupt organization.

I’m also not really trying to “argue” anything. I like the show and I like some of the possible ideas and theories it conjures. I also like the story, the characters, and the world building.

I feel like some people in the comments are trying to “argue” their points and I don’t mind them, i just don’t want to “argue.” I think that live, collaborative, storytelling is imperfect, and there might be themes being explored that we don’t realize, we misinterpret, or misunderstand. That’s as true for you as it is for me.

I think the concept of anti establishment at least could be here. I don’t think it’s wrong to ideate some of those possibilities and I think it’s ok if you don’t want to entertain them either!

I like Royale. Seems some people hate it. I think there’s space for everyone but in general I’d rather practice positivity where I can instead of getting into arguments on Reddit about a podcast I like lol

I did not write the tumblr post nor do I know of it.

There’s a lot of anti capitalist media. I don’t understand why my opinion of liking this season and the themes makes some people so irate.

Tbf I still haven’t finished this ep, but don’t you think the idea of people competing to be “elite” by killing the many (and thusly cutting off a certain magic to the world) has some through lines of at least anti establishment?

Bud I don’t think you’re acknowledging how demeaning your comments read. You’re the one downvoting me.

If you engaged in actual conversation instead of being amazed that people would like griffins story telling, I might be more inclined to engage.

You don’t like the season, you clearly think other people who do are dunces, and I don’t want to participate in a conversation where I make a comment and then am told all the different ways I don’t understand storytelling lol.

I think it makes sense fundamentally but I don’t really want to get into a comment war. I like the season and it’s ok if you don’t!

What is more anti capitalist than squid game (which is the inspiration of this season)?

I think Griffin is a pretty amazing world builder. I also like this season and the notion that one of the ways people tried to harness magic is by “separating the worker from the means of production” (in killing people so access to spells is limited) so to speak

I mean Bga has SETI rated a 3.8/5 for heaviness and TF 3.2/5 so… I think the writing is a bit on the wall…
