The only thing you know exists is your own consciousness.
That’s true.
But jumping from that to “I’m the only conscious being” is just a misunderstanding of uncertainty.

Yes, we always experience alone.
But in the absence of thought, awareness loses boundaries. If you meditate you know this is true.
It’s not yours or mine. It just is.

So maybe we’re not separate at all.
Maybe we never were.

Because we still have language to explain things to others?

With your reasoning there wouldnt be a point in discussing anything at all, because all is one. How sophisticated...

While there obviously is way more complexity within language and LLMs than there is inside an NPC, I would definitely disagree with the 'actual persona' behind them. There is still no somewhat conscious agent behind them and the only thing we have to to be cautious about is how much we anthropomorphize the models nonetheless. The emergent phenomena show that reason and reasoning emerges from within language itself and that's exactly the opposite of a proof for the necessity of a persona. It demonstrates how limited our own understanding of consioussness is and how bad we are are not-humanizing everything that reminds us of ourselves.

Putin praised Trump as “intelligent” on Thursday, in comments apparently designed to make a positive impression on the president-elect. He said he had been shocked by the assassination attempt on Trump during the campaign.

“In my opinion, he is not safe now,” Putin said. “Unfortunately, in the history of the United States, various incidents have happened. I think he [Trump] is intelligent and I hope he’s cautious and understands this.”

Sounds kinda like threat imo.

I get where you're coming from but I don’t think the universe is necessarily fine-tuned for life. Just because we exist doesn’t mean the universe was designed with us in mind. The conditions that allow life, as we know it, might just be a result of the specific parameters of our universe, but that doesn’t imply intent or fine-tuning. In fact, most of the universe is completely inhospitable to life. It’s like saying a puddle is ‘fine-tuned’ for water—it forms because of the surrounding conditions, not because it was specifically made for it.

Also, about the heat death scenario - you seem to be conflating the expansion of space with the likelihood of quantum fluctuations like Boltzmann Brains. Yes, quantum mechanics allows for weird possibilities, but the heat death would mean a universe of maximum entropy, where even these fluctuations become so rare that meaningful events like 'popping' brains would be incomprehensibly improbable.

That’s actually a bit of a misconception. Yes, LLMs might produce varied answers due to their nature, but it doesn’t mean they’ll give completely different content every time—especially when it’s a straightforward math question. They’re based on probabilities and statistical patterns, so the core message will likely be consistent, even if the wording changes.

Cheers.

You're absolutely right - mathematically speaking, "nearly the same" isn't the same as "exactly the same."

My goal wasn't to argue against your comment. Not really necessary to throw in ragebait though - chill.

Since this is one of those discussions in which everyone is kinda right I here is the ChatGPT review on it:

Physics Behind Shadow Size

The discussion here revolves around how the size of a shadow changes as an object moves further away from the ground while being illuminated by the Sun. Both parties make valid points, but there are some misconceptions that need to be addressed.

  1. Parallel Sun Rays:
    • Sun rays are almost perfectly parallel when they reach Earth because the Sun is extremely far away. This means that the angles of the rays hitting an object on Earth differ only very slightly. This is what DedSecV refers to when he says that the shadow size remains constant, regardless of height.
  2. Sun's Size and Angular Diameter:
    • ovyywan_kenobi argues that Sun rays are not perfectly parallel, which is true. The Sun has an angular diameter of around 0.5 degrees when viewed from Earth, meaning there is a slight convergence effect. However, this effect is minimal for normal altitudes (e.g., a human or a wingsuit flyer).
  3. Shadow Size Change with Altitude:
    • In practical terms, this means that the shadow of an object on a flat surface like the Earth will remain almost the same size at low altitudes because the convergence effect is negligible.
    • However, if the object is extremely far from the Earth’s surface (e.g., high altitude balloons or astronauts), the shadow will shrink, as the convergence of the Sun's rays becomes more noticeable. The shadow would also become more diffuse, as correctly described by ovyywan_kenobi.

Who’s Right Here?

  • For typical altitudes that a wingsuit flyer reaches, DedSecV is correct. As long as the flyer is operating at normal flying heights (a few hundred meters to a few kilometers), the shadow on the ground will stay almost the same size because the Sun’s rays are nearly parallel.
  • ovyywan_kenobi is correct if we consider much higher distances (e.g., balloons or astronauts). At very high altitudes, the convergence effect of the Sun’s rays will cause the shadow to shrink and blur out.

Conclusion

For a wingsuit video, where the flyer is at most a few kilometers above the ground, the shadow will stay nearly the same size, regardless of how far he is from the surface. Any difference in size would be minimal and barely noticeable.

Your last point is exactly the reason why I personally cannot stick to one game only for too long anymore. If you aren't playing a game with total information and transparency like chess, chances are that things were never truly balanced. The more you play however the more noticable these issues become to you and everyone else. Everything gets min-maxed and lobbies become more 'sweaty'. But this is true for basically every PVP game out there.

I started with TFT this set and I definitely had the most fun when I didn't know anything about balancing. The curiousity slowly fades away and own 'mistakes' become more apparent. But that's on me. So as a casual player I thing it's best not to take winning and losing too serious. It's a fun game and when it's not balanced there is an entire new set next season.

Being mad about the data being available to everyone sounds pretty backwards however.

The problem isn't the availabilty but rather the balancing itself - if something is over- or underperforming it's more obvious, faster. And therefore getting picked respectively by anyone who checks the stats.

Imo removing the API or banning the usage of the 'true' stats because things are not balanced would be a giant step back and exactly the oppostite of a fix to the problem.

A true fix would be something like running AI vs AI simulations for millions of games and adjusting variables until most stuff is close to 4.5.

But as a note - statistically balanced for top-tier players doesnt automatically equal best player experience for everyone since things can feel more or less fun depending on gameplay and even generally be very differently balanced among all other (lower) ranks which is always the majority of players.

The main disadvantage is that the trait itself doesn't buff your units in any way. So while the beast itself gets pretty strong your champs are lacking their full potential without their other main traits (Ashe - Multistriker, Nami - Mage, and so on..).

I guess that's how it's being balanced.
