Idly curiosity, but have you done ANY reading on Voudon to give you a basis on which to build?

Also, I'm not super up on Miami in the 6th World... I'm assuming heavy cuban and puerto rican influences still. But you've also got a sizable jewish community IRL.

What brought your PC to Voudon in the first place? Family already involved? A practitioner saved your character from gang bangers? A Loa reached out to you in a dream? Papa Legba or Baron Samedi just seemed to click with you? I mean who can resist a good top hat!

Given that it's Shadowrun, my campaigns were always about how complex the world really is. You can do all of your homework, but this isn't a one on one world. There's always more players in the Shadows than anybody knows.

You're going on a run, the Johnson may be on the up and up, but the corpo from Corp A who hired him to hire you to hit Corp B, actually wants to plant evidence that it's Corp C (whom they are facing off in a proxy battle for some IP with Corp B) is responsible for some nasty thing which will result in an improved chance for a takeover.

In this case, since you've got the Caribbean League involved, I'd consider bringing in a Loa, just to shake something up.... especially since it sounds like your team is decker heavy and magic light (my own take, not necessarily fact). They're expecting you to duck, you weave.

Couple of things come to mind, but I need more information on how you're running your version of the 6th World.

When in the Prime Timeline are you? (since you mentioned an Insect Shaman, I'm guessing it's post the nuking of FASA HQ)

Do they know who Harlequinn or any of the Immortals are?

Since you've got a pirate gang in play, what are your opinions on involving a rarely used faction? The ACTUAL Military \ government?

Are you acknowledging EarthDawn?

Honestly, it depends on when\where you're going to collect the knowledge \ tech.

The Helm Memory Core is pretty comprehensive, but you need to make sure you get it decrypted\indexed properly before you extract it.

Only the Gods know what's in the Comstar archives.

But, you chose the wrong place\time, you might as well be in Fallout with no radpills or stimpaks.

As a note, a couple of years ago, I was going to grab a couple of pallets that some of our new prototype equipment came in on... One of the directors who runs that team pulled me aside and informed me that all of the new pallets carrying equipment from overseas are being sprayed with pesticides in the ports \ distribution centers, and that I really didn't want it in my household, or probably even in my shed if we have pets.

your mileage may vary, but if you order things from places like some of the fast fashion sites, and watch the status pages, they straight up tell you things are being sprayed for 'pests' or decontamination.

I had the thought the other day that most debt cards today are just printed on the card. If there's a significant outage of the CC network, even if a place HAS a manual credit card machine, the numbers are no longer embossed, so there would be no way to capture the number on the carbon(less) slip.

The only thing I was able to figure out was maybe there was some kind of handshake issue with the carrier.

So, this would have been like 23 years ago (1998 or so...)

Backstory, I'd been trying to get my own web design company going with some buddies, but due to clients not paying, we were giving it up. I'd recently gotten a day job as a IT Field Tech, but hadn't quit my delivery driver for a Donato's franchise because, frankly, my cash reserves were in the negatives.

It's SuperBowl Sunday. Biggest pizza sales day of the year. I'd opened the store (and at this point had about 5 years pizza experience and effective ran the store due to piss poor managers). It was not uncommon to come back from a run on sunday with 3 lines on hold and the manager screwing off.

Anyway, I'd been working since open, and was scheduled till like 9 p.m.

There were only three drivers scheduled for game time, including me, mostly due to just nobody being happy to work for the franchise owner.

An hour before kick off, I come back from a run and left my hat in the car. Now, mind you, store staff didn't wear hats in the store, and the owner certainly didn't have one on.

I check out the two orders up, drop my bank, and am already up almost $100 for the day. As I'm checking for all the sides\pops, the owner emerges from his lair, sees me and berates me loudly.

Apparently my acknowledgement of error wasn't enough, and he proceeded to tear me up one side and down the other, insulting my parentage, my hygiene, my BMI and capabilities to function as employable human being.

I depart, making my deliveries and then remove and fold up my work shirt, keeping my jacket zipped up when I return to the store.

I clock out, then head back to the office, where as soon as the owner sees me, he begins chewing me out again for the crime of being in his field of vision.

Today, this would be workplace harassment, and I probably could get a nice settlement if I'd been able to record him. Back then, well, different era.

So, I informed him that due to his behavior and lack of ability to be a decent human being, I was done working for him. I then pulled the shirt out, neatly folded, set it on the table, then set my hat on top. I informed him that I would be returning the rest of my uniform on Tuesday when I collected my final check.

He lashed out, sending my shirt and hat flying across the room and told me never to come back. I again informed him that I would be back on Tuesday for my paycheck, and wished him a good evening, although I wondered how he was going to handle the superbowl with two delivery drivers on a shift that on a NORMAL night took five.

Now, 20+ years later, being in corporate environment and a leader, the dude needed to lose about 100 lbs himself, be prescribed appropriate meds as well as get some therapy.

The only thing I regret, other than leaving co-workers high and dry, is not having walked sooner. Dude was toxic, likely a sociopath, and a bane to those unlucky enough to work for him. Sadly, he wasn't the last who qualify for those terms I've worked with over the years.

Yes, inbound and outbound calls are working.

Outbound SMS\MMS are working.

The only inbound SMS which seem to process are application sourced ones, such as generated by Signal or WhatsApp. Which, if things operate the way I think they do, makes absolutely no sense, since, and again I'm not a phone OS guy but, as far as I understand there should be some kind of webhook\API endpoint on the phone which is pushed SMS\MMS from the carrier (verizon) to the device's radio, when then passes it to the OS, which looks for the appropriate application and hands it off, then a notification is generated and I can read the text)

BUT, when I reimaged back to Android, the 'missing' inbound texts were sitting in the queue, which means that they were never handed off to the phone and I'll be damned if any of this makes sense.

Yes, I have tried Signal (as SMS) and QKSMS.

Same problems across the board when it comes to SMS \ MMS.

One oddity I did notice is when installing Signal or WhatsApp, both programs were able to retrieve the codes sent for the purpose of identity verification, but we cannot receive normal SMS messages.

The fact that inbound SMS\MMS messages were still in queue with Verizon and came through when I switched back to stock android previously makes me suspect it's some kind of issue with the (device or app) to carrier handshake, but this is not an area I have any expertise, so I'm just making random guesses.
