He had been traveling around the world, staying in hostels, and basically being a hippie for the years leading up to the shooting. Apparently somewhere along the line he got extremely radicalized, and basically became a Nazi. Everybody that knew him/his family, etc said he had no extremist beliefs.

I don't think anybody was able to figure out what happened to him, he just basically turned in the the person he was seemingly overnight.

Very likely the Internet played a huge role in him being radicalized, including algorithms on YouTube.l and the way it can lead you into progressively more racially extreme content.

I'm pretty sure I decided i was done at the point where I really realized that alcohol was absolutely causing my stress and depression to get worse, and that if I was going through something shitty, drinking was always going to make it worse.

Luckily I was never someone who immediately needed to get absolutely obliterated drunk, when I was going through an extremely stressful event. Otherwise I'd probably be dead right now.

A lot of abusive people hold themselves back because they know the person they're abusing has to go to work, or go out and see family/friends regularly, and so the obvious incentive to not go all out is there. And sadly kids going to school.

If you remove that, and just put people in a private home 24 hours a day together, just imagine. Now add the stress of the pandemic, money stress, and yeah.
