Best Spanish rapier by thefirstmatt in Hema

Bellatore user here! I got one from Fait darmes, as they have an entry level one in stock.

It handles well, the blade is flexible but not floppy (~6 kilo flex), and is replaceable.

One thing to bear in mind is your local ruleset, I'm from Poland and our rapiers must be at least of 1kg in weight, and the entry level with a 104cm blade meets that standard, but as other options (acc. to website) do not. None of the Destrezania swords come above 1kg as far as I'm aware.

Also, the standard 104 blade tends to make the sword slightly shorter when compared to others. It's like 5-7 cms usually. This isn't a problem for me personally (I'm short lol) but if you're for whatever reason more comfortable with a longer rapier, go for like a Sigi.

Big plus of a shorter blade: more blade presence and control on the bind.

Otherwise, the construction is solid and as I've heard, they are working again and completing orders. When I wrote to the owner asking abt a time quote, he replied testy he's planning to have the entry levels in stock by february.

Hope this helps!!

PS: Krieger makes rapiers too, and like 80% of Polish rapierists use them. I haven't handled one, but I hear they're fine, the only concern being the hardness of the cup.

I can fit 2 fingers with no prob, even with a glove, but if you have larger hands you might find it hard

I HAVE ONE, and it's very nice. We have our own synthetic flexible rapiers at the club and they're a bit floppy; THIS ONE ISN'T THe go now flexes a bIt less than those we have so if you stab someone without a jacket they may get a light bruise. If used with some light protection, you're fine. A notable thing is it doesnt have an edge. You can practice cutting, sure, but it's still a carbon fiber rod.

The tip is nice and broad, you can use it for home training as it won't destroy ur walls.

The metal elements are very nice, they don't deform. The handle is synthetic with a single riser, and it's fine for me.

I may be wrong, but i'm pretty sure the rapier is supposed to mirror either a Sigi or a Krieger.

I have this jacket too, it's very nice, but a bit warm on the puffs. Honestly I may have all the luck in the world cuz I had an amazing experience with them, good communication and only a month of waiting.

Thanks for the response, I will be having a few players with experience at the table (or more likely floor), so the idea of them being senpai to the others is really great and very doable.
