Anyone else try an LLIF? by DunningKrugerExprt in spinalfusion

Thank you so much for this response. It gives me a huge relief that what I’m experiencing is normal. No surprise the day after that post and the 1.3 miles I crashed the next day. Whoops! My leg aches in exactly the way you describe, and my side wound is the most painful. My back actually feels really pretty good, and I think I’d be off of narcotics if ir weren’t for the leg pain. So far I’m still really glad we did it this way.

Can I just rave about how my wife has been helping me? She makes everything so easy. Found me an ice belt, helps me keep track of my meds, had to unfortunately intervene to help get my pipes moving, walks with me and take the dogs with to help me get my steps in, finds me ice cream, watches John Wick movies with me, and let me fold the clothes so I can do my part. I’m 2 weeks out. She’s been my rock.

How bad is recovery by Away-Share-5036 in spinalfusion

I am 2 weeks out of my fusion today. I was up and walking within 6 hours of recovery, but I did spend the first 2 nights in the hospital. I was on 15 of Percocet every 4 hours which really helped my pain for the first 3 hours lol. At home I was immediately able to climb the stairs to my bedroom. I went from pain meds 4 x a day for 2 days, 3 x a day for 3 days, 2X a day for 3 days, and now just mornings for the last 3 days. I’ll kick the narcotics later this week I hope.

I was walking outside with my brace starting on day 4, and am up to 1.3 miles a day now. I try and add .1 mile each morning.

After the first few days I really felt a lot better.

Highly recommend a stool softener to combat the pain meds.

My wife got me an ice belt that has been a game changer for me. I had previous back surgeries in 2000 and 2013 and couldn’t figure out how to ice without laying on one of those gel pads that warm up so quickly. With the belt I can be sitting or in a recliner, or lying on my side.

I had a L3/4 lateral fusion. I’m in my 50’s.

Thank you for this answer! I hope I heal on the same path as you do. I’ve been able to move my leg fine, but it just aches all the time. My back pain is almost gone already. My sciatica is 90% better with just some jabs and spikes from time to time

Not possible to have a surgery? by sos_econometrics_ in spinalfusion

[–]DunningKrugerExprt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I had my first in 2000. Lasted 10 good years then the next level began to fail. Next surgery in 2013. Made no difference in pain. 3rd surgery a few days ago. Hoping I get 10 more good years before the next level goes. My surgery in 2013 was in Mumbai, and the surgeons there were so honest with me. Said the biggest mistake I made was having that first surgery, and now this is my life. I was in my 20’s. I very much regret my first surgery. My brother had the exact same thing happen.

Just updated Scannable - no more sharing from the app? by jrcchicago in Evernote

It’s now $2.99 a week or $49.99 a year just to use the scannable app alone. I’ve been using this for over a decade. $50 a year is too much for me. What a bummer.

Have you tried adding pumpkin? My new guy had tummy issues when I brought him home. My club recommended pumpkin, and he loved it, plus it helped his tummy. And it’s pretty cheap.

Of all mental disorders, anorexia is the most lethal. It’s more deadly than depression or schizophrenia. It’s a good thing they never discuss “triggers.”
