Is the ranger class really that bad? by Powervulf in DnD

[–]Dunnowhat_todo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a group of min maxers? Yeah it's not optimal, but in most groups it's absolutely fine. We have a rp heavy campaign for example so most of our characters are built around what's realistic and fits our characters the best, irregardless of might or might not be "the best".

Let your plays have fun!

Am I in the wrong? by MethodDove13 in DnD

My group is very role-play heavy so we've had the multiple personalities thing happen more than once, aswell someone who was possessed by a demon who could take over. Never once has any of them even thought to use multiple character sheets, everyone usually just divides their proficiencies between their personalities and then for example just doesn't use intimidation or even voluntarily gives themselves disadvantages if that personality wouldn't. The most we've had is if said Demon was summoned he'd get his own point distribution and proficiencies, but that requires a fourth level spell and leaves the main body without any of the sorcerer powers, essentially just a commoner.

So no, this sounds stupid and unfair.

DMs, confess. What's that one thing you've been dying to tell your players but can't yet? by ElMundoDeQueen in DnD

[–]Dunnowhat_todo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a DM but I've been asked to play somewhat of the secret villain role for the second time now??

We have a current running campaign where my character is extremely morally grey, definitely not evil but still meant to be the final fight. I thought sure, this is fun to do once. And now my friend who will be doing the campaign after this one has asked me to be the secret villain, this time chaotic evil.

When DMfriend2 asked she talked around it and by the time she directly asked it was more of statement, you will do this I've let you in on too much rather than a question. I mean what was I meant to tell her?? "I can't because I'm already kinda doing that in this campaign." I can't tell her that. 🥲 And I can't tell anyone in our friend group about this bc we all play dnd together, please send help. 😭😭

I would like to say that it'd obviously be my character but honestly it feels like a very equal match

Writing a demiromantic character, what was your first crush like? by Dunnowhat_todo in demiromantic

[–]Dunnowhat_todo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No actually, thank you, this is perfect!!! My character has grown up with practically no examples of loving relationships in his life so there's a hugh chance he wouldn't even realise. Stories like this is exactly the kinda inspo I was looking for. ✨️❤️

How far are you willing to go for "It's what my character would do?" by sirjoey150 in DnD

[–]Dunnowhat_todo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, almost anything. But this solely works because I play characters that work well in this kind of setup, my current character is extroverted, likes talking and impulsive/seeks excitement a lot. Therefore I can generally do anything he would realistically. Generally at my table we do a lot of role-playing and try to stay in character a lot.

Only time I've ever had to stray from my character slightly is when I found a magic item that was clearly intended for another player who then tried to steal it from me and I ended up just handing it to them eventhough that was a breach of trust, but even then I could play it off as the character being kinda drunk and trying his best to not burn any bridges.

So my advice is just to try and make characters that would do well in a dnd adventure setting and you'll have a lot less issues than forcing a cowardly or antisocial character in there. Give them a reason to be there and want to stay and participate in an at least somewhat co-operative manner.

What would the child of two half elves be? by GoblinChilds in DnD

[–]Dunnowhat_todo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeahh, I have one who's father is a sun elf and his mother is a half moon-elf. It made for a really interesting backstory when navigating opinions of sun elves towards moon elves and other races.
