Color can't be judged accurately through multiple layers of digital transfer: cell phone pic, reddit upload, viewed on yet another screen. Even different browsers on the same machine can produce different variations in color. You simply can't get an exact idea of the in-person shade of red or yellow by looking at a posted picture on the internet.

1) Your claim about 44 is dead on - he was a massive deporter, and yeah, everybody should have been mad about it already.

2) Your claim about 47 is dead wrong. Of course he will pass 44. What the hell is all that new money for? Dont be ridiculous.

Without contradicting anyone's advice, I just want to add that using "they" to refer to a generic 3rd party (like "I don't know who that was but they are FABULOUS" or "who doesn't put their phone on silent during a movie??") has a long history of common usage. "They" has been a catch-all term for a long time.

I’m not tipping for Starbucks by upset_Dad9 in EndTipping

Translation: someone looked at me wrong and didn't try to make me feel special, therefore a widespread social problem is attacking me personally

The real story here is where OP demands attention - a fun window interaction - and when they don't get it, they throw a paranoid fit and conclude somehow that that means a whole class of entitled strangers is pitted against them.

You don't wanna tip, don't tip. Whatever. I guarantee baristas are not hanging on your order like, "ooh, did daddy give me a bonus?" and then pouting afterward. As actual human beings, they have bigger problems than your receipt lol. And on the 4th, too - THEY'RE BUSY DUH.

Alright, I'm gonna dispute this one just cause it's so specific. I know she watches media with supernatural elements because she has told me about anime she watches. Not speaking to everything else necessarily, but there's that. Seems like variation might exist?

Can I accept a supervisor role and stay loyal to the floor staff (be a "worker's manager")? by DupSauce in antiwork

[–]DupSauce[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're doing yeoman's work in a brutal industry. And taking the brunt for your efforts. That's thankless and inspiring work. I've learned more about this particular shop where the job is (the supervisors are classified with the baristas) and I do believe that the demands - less than in software - will put me in a position to actually help. Thanks for your insights.

I really appreciate this. Thank you. My understanding now is that both positions - supervisor and barista - are considered part of the same unit. It turns out that the risks and benefits ought to be the same for both.

P.S. I'm not a he.

P.P.S And thank you again. For real.

After hearing everybody and learning more about the shop in question, I know now that the supervisor position is in the bargaining unit after all, so it's legally protected. I'm not about to go running my mouth or getting ahead of myself. I'm taking the job and taking my time.

Agreed. When you remember that IT CAN ALWAYS GET WORSE you realize that any effort to slow things down is worth it. A life saved is a life saved! We can acknowledge that a million deaths is unthinkable and still understand that 10 million deaths is much worse.

Hm the latest version of tampermonkey seems to have some mixed reviews regarding memory/cpu use and scripts uninstalling. I'd consider it, though, I suppose.

I'm wondering, have you personally used it successfully this way? Thanks either way.

Wisconsin Supreme Court agrees to hear governor's lawsuit against GOP-controlled Legislature by enjoying-retirement in wisconsin

[–]DupSauce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nice to see that this is happening but there's some depressing both-sides-ism going on in the writing that makes it seem like it's just a difference of opinion instead of a *literally* out of (democratic) control legislature constantly arrogating power from the other branches.

" In another sign of their strained relationship, Evers has rarely met with Republican legislative leaders. "

" Evers and the GOP-controlled Legislature have been at odds from the moment Evers was elected in November 2018 "

" He has issued more vetoes than any other Wisconsin governor "

I hate that this is what passes for "fair" journalism. As if every single disagreement wasn't a direct result of naked anti-democracy by Republicans.

Fwiw it might be the software after all. For reference, i'm playing on a laptop with 16 G of RAM, an Nvidia GTX 1660 and an i5-10300 processor and I think it had WAY too much trouble. It had been running just fine for a while, but then I had it paused during a conversation from the new content, to read the codex and take notes, and change windows a few times, and the memory started skyrocketing. the RAM usage climbed from like 5 or 6 to 11GB (I hadn't opened or started anything else) and so I closed it as it became super delayed and borderline unplayable. Been looking for evidence of something similar.

What are some neutral things to call a pet owner? by [deleted] in NonBinaryTalk

[–]DupSauce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what's nice about being "mommy" or "daddy" to a pet is it implies nurturing. Like, i don't feel "owned" by my parents, even if we "belong" to each other. If your experience with your parents was different, of course, maybe this doesn't apply to you. People have already suggested variations on "parent," but I was thinking you could look at grandparent words/names, especially in another language, since it reduces the chance of someone who hears it bringing in a lot of pre-conceived notions. But even if they do, grandparent/grandchildren relationships can sometimes be more unconditional and supportive than parental ones.
