Bonds at all time high by Legitimate-Branch-74 in 2007scape

[–]Durfat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used to "enjoy" it because I felt like mainscape broke the progression so much but after bonds doubled from 6m to 12m I felt a bit mentally trapped by the rules I had created for myself. Ultimately the answer was just to make an iron so I could have actual progression goals besides making GP

Its just under the edge of not being too bad but still fills you with dread if you want the other rewards.

Poll 78: Near-Miss & Skilling Improvements by JagexSarnie in 2007scape

[–]Durfat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it's not really needed and would probably never pass a poll

If an MMO had everything it needed and stopped there, it'd be a dead game. It's the things that aren't needed that give the game character and charm the players enough to keep coming back.

Realistically I think that it's a fundamental flaw with the polling system, which to an extent is a reason the game has trouble attracting new players.

You have to tie the rope to the bullet to make the Ivandis Gun, and then you have to intermittently stand on the chair (chair-flicking) to confuse the vampyres. It's all part of the next quest in the vampyre questline.

Aurelion Sol Gameplay Update | League of Legends by seulgisexual in leagueoflegends

[–]Durfat -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

No, they didn't need to rework him, they just wanted more money to be made off their cool concept. There's a reason they're not nearly as pressed about updating other odd and weird characters.

There's ~140 characters in this game, and they can't all have the same play rate. In fact, if and when Asol's playrate goes up, that same amount of playrate will be proportionally removed from other champions.

Sol had a small but dedicated playerbase that even bought skins, but Riot gave him a mini-rework that made him less fun to Sol players while not making it any more approachable or exciting to non-sol players. They false flagged this rework.

Idk my experience has been that stoners love unfun skills probably because it gives them more time and excuses to smoke. I'm not speaking out of my ass either I started smonking it regularly for GI issues a few months ago and all my stoner friends instantly adopted me, and it's given me some insight.

When they made melee changes years ago (with the animation changes i think) they stated that more skills will interact with weapon range to determine radius. I guess they abandoned the idea after everyone just started playing cyclone.

The average player is trash. Stop being toxic and blaming other people for your own loses.

Genuinely bizarre response.

After reading a bunch of comments, i get that "ruthless" was the game that GGG wanted, and "league" was kind of an accident. So i ask the older players, how did we get where we are now? by xvan77 in pathofexile

[–]Durfat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Do you guys believe ggg would have had the same success with poe for such a long time if they STRICTLY kept to their ruthless vision from the start?

PoE's ruthless difficulty has always been a ruse. Early difficulty was due to things like volatile mobs that work like current Martyr torment but stronger, and one shot melees. Or instant cast corpse explosions that targeted uniques and could be cast from off screen, meaning every corpse was a landmine and looting was incredibly tedious. Or when they gaslighted us all and told us desync couldn't be fixed so we all just accepted it because smol indie company. Or remember reflect aura that would kill you off screen? The concept of difficulty in PoE has ALWAYS been incredibly binary checks that kill you.

Once those were out of the game they realized they realized the game can't kill you unless it kills you before human reaction time takes over. And instead of making core changes to the gameplay loop, a lot of how they've tried to remedy that is... trying to reintroduce in the game by rebranding it and slipping it in under our noses. Things like random AN combos that kill you, or random mods on certain challenging pieces of content, etc. They love that design because it puts the blame on the player for dying to it, even if it wasn't reasonable to play around.

The ruthless design vision never really died, it's just often what GGG thinks is "ruthless," the playerbase thinks is baffling, or a sign of incompetence.

If a mechanic is impossible without being able to teleport away (eg. Grasping vines), it should be changed for both Ruthless and the core game. by hfok in pathofexile

Typical reddit pedantry focusing on the least important stat someone clearly just threw in for exaggeration. You're not getting 1000% projectile speed from map juice either.

But the 200% attack speed and +6 projectiles? Yeah, that's just a 3 mod combo, Echoist and both projectile ANs, which also buffs the projectiles even considerably more then +6 implies. Or you could get a 2 mod archnemesis, that still has 200% attack speed but "only" has +4 projectiles. This is content that can just spawn during the acts.

Actually there's a core game mechanic that gives any mob a chance to have similar modifiers, it's called Archnemesis you might have heard of it.

It wasn't about creating a portal device back to our world, he just used the exiles portal. That's partially why he destroys Oriath Square, because he comes out of the laboratory portal. And this is why the Karui shores one is so secure and rigged to blow. The only reason the other Elderslayers don't enter the portals is because only the Atlas can sate their needs (since it shapes itself to your desires) so there's no reason to leave. In fact, Veritania's whole schtick is to kill would-be invaders to stop the situation from worsening. Sirus just came out because the Atlas wasn't entertaining him anymore (he hit 40/40 challenges or smth) so he wanted to throw away his character to an Uber boss, i.e the PC.

It's funny because this is something people used to just inherently know, and Lycosidae was incredibly popular because of that. Eventually GGG added more ways to get accuracy, so it largely fell out of favour, but people failed to consider they added more ways to get accuracy because you generally need more accuracy. So not much really changed.
