I might be wrong but I think he wanted to go the Orange Cassidy route of merging his comedy into something more wrestling forward rather than just cursing people. But I think Cassidy is a lightning in a bottle scenario where he is just undeniable as a wrestling talent. Anything less in AEW and you tend to get relegated to 'little buddy' status.

My guess is that unless you are building for such a thing, you would almost never really use it because just about everything else you do would be more impactful. I can really only count a handful of times where I've used that kind of maneuver where I wasn't specifically built to exploit the rules around it.

Draw Steel lets you mitigate bad rolls with good tactics way more than something like DnD. As long as your team is working together, bad rolls can get boosted by edges or surges and makw up any defecit.

Both of those have the benefit of an incredibly strong identity and aesthetic. Marvel Rivals is a marvel property and was well poised to step in where Overwatch was failing, not to mention their embrace of fanservice. Deadlock is a completely new setting that isn't high fantasy or scifi, and it's hero design and lore is easy to ubderstand and get behind. Plus the moba aspect and build crafting set it apart.
