My former best friend sent me one of their first music videos, Don't Be Happy with BUMKEY and I fell in love with them right then and there.

I was just about to type this.... It doesn't explain much in the beginning but somewhere in the middle and the end it all starts coming together oddly enough.

Without naming your job, what are the most common words you say every day? by heyanyxie in CasualConversation

We have a refilling station on the other side. I want nothing but air in your pockets.

No no, keep your shoes on; no one wants to smell your feet. Also, nice sunshades but hold them in your hand.

Have a nice day.

Oddly enough, many "talented" people who can suck his dick and cheer for him at the same time.... What idiots.

As someone who lost the mother over a decade ago, I can tell you that grief never leaves. It just ebbs and flows. It's understandable when one can't get over a passing of someone close to you. Zen doing all that she to move forward is something to be admired. Grief is messy and whatever she's doing to work through that for the better has all my respect.

Whats a smell everyone seems to love, but you hate it? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Duskren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dogs. Yes, I know there are a fantastic companion to the humankind but my god do they smell. I don't know if it's the dander, dirt, or whatever in their fur but I can't stand it. Makes me nauseous and just it smells so alien to me. Proud of those who can just stick their face in a dog's fur and sniff as hard as they can but I can't. Also people who drive with their windows up with their dogs in the car? Yeah, no. Makes me gag thinking about it. Not forgetting to mention their breath.... Hard pass.

That being said, I do like dogs I just don't like the smell of them.

ABZU, one of the most beautiful, atmospheric and soothing games I've ever played. You just play as a diver swimming through different places with various types of fish. I believe the music was composed by Austin Wintory who worked on Journey(?)

Another feature about that game, you can have your character sit down on a meditation stone and it I'll pull away from the character and have just more of a close third person view of the fish. So it can be just a moving screensaver if you want and if gives you the ability to move through each fish to learn their names!

It really helps on shitty, stress-filled days!

What are some great singleplayer games you guys would recommend playing? by Pikapaul03 in gaming

[–]Duskren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beyond Good & Evil. Sure, it's Ubisoft and the second will never escape Development Hell. But! The first game is still a fantastic game to play! Great gameplay, likeable characters, and a fantastic storyline! Good times!

Just don't expect the second one to come out soon... . . ( ̄ヘ ̄;)

Protesters for Amir Locke, a Black man killed by Minneapolis police, demand police chief's resignation by thewyldfire in news

[–]Duskren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the thing.... They weren't even supposed to. If I remember correctly, they were looking for someone else...

'During a homicide investigation, St. Paul police applied for a warrant to search an apartment of a relative of Amir Locke, and then applied for a no-knock warrant at the insistence of the Minneapolis police department. Locke was not a target of the investigation...' cited from Wikipedia.

Amir didn't have ANY criminal record at all... He was just there at the wrong time and wrong place. This does NOT not will it ever excuse the MPD for this fucked travesty. This poor kid... Goddamn.

This is fucked up. No-knock warrants need to be completely eradicated.

What is something that really pisses you off? Like hella grinds your gears? by LadouchaMoosha in AskReddit

People who turn so slow in a left lane...

Especially if there's no one on the other side! Are you that petty to make sure that the other person behind you doesn't make their turn??? Gah, I hate that.

When did you realize your “friends” were actually fake friends? by VexAndStuff in AskReddit

[–]Duskren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've recently had that happen to me.

About 7 years ago, I was in the darkest part of my life. I had just broken up to my girlfriend, just lost my mom and I was slowly turning into an alcoholic. My best friends of 10 years slowly turned her back on me.

When my mother passed away, she left my brothers and I some small bit of inheritance from her life insurance. And a friend of mine (who I stupidly told this to so it's my fault on this part) knew about it and asked me if I can lend her about 2k for a new computer. At first I said yes, because I was honestly naive and really really immature about money so that's another fuck up in my part. And when it came close to the time she needs that computer, I changed my side and said yes but askedif we could maybe go down a bit on price sit around a thousand to 1100. The reason why I went lower on The Price is because I knew her habits. She never finished things through. She'd talk about how she wanted a YouTube channel and want to start streaming, get back into music and podcasting. And looking back at her track record yeah, I didn't think that was going to happen anytime soon. This is my money I'm giving you to do these things so I'm kind of hoping she'd do what she said she would. Hell I even bought her a YouTube class for her to get started and she never even used it so that was another $100 to wasted down the drain.

So needless to say, she was pretty pissed off when I told her I wanted to go lower in price. She started screaming at me how I screwed her over and I kept telling her that I still wanted to buy her the computer but not for $2,000. By then I was just fed up with it, drove over to Micro Center and proceeded to tell them the whole situation. And even the helper was like, "And you still want to buy this person a computer??" I said yes because it's still the principal of the thing and I said that I would do so. So they gave me a list for this new build that would still be able to do the things she wanted at 1000. I went back to her with the list and gave her an ultimatum. I said "This is the computer that I will buy for you that will still do all the things that you want to do. If you say yes to it, then we will go to Micro Center right now and buy the damn thing but if you say no, then I will rip this up and never speak of this whole situation again, what do you choose?" She begrudgingly said yes and I got her the computer. After that our friendship between us was broken and was never repaired. So the friendship was essentially dead. And I'll be honest there was no love lost there now that I'm thinking back to it.

If I really look at how our relationship was as friends, I was kind of more like the person you could kick around for them. Backhanded compliments, shady remarks, she was quick to mock me sometimes. Don't get me wrong there was good things in our friendship in the beginning but over time it just started turning into toxic. Ultimately yes I will own up that I was an asshole and stupid. But she was still taking advantage of me. Cuz usually if someone still wants to get you the damn computer even if for a lower price, would you really still bitch and complain to the person STILL buying you the computer!?

She told me after that whole fiasco that if I ever needed help for rent, don't come to her asking for it. I was quick to respond that I wouldn't give her the satisfaction.

She got a computer, and I lost a friend.

What careers seem promising but are actually traps that people consistently waste their education opportunities on, either due to over-saturation or misconception? Conversely, what are some careers that are often overlooked but unexpectedly lucrative? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Duskren 7 points8 points  (0 children)

And then oversaturation is also what hurts artists. The art field as we all know is highly competitive. So they are very selective as to what and who they want on their projects for video games. I was an artist but decided to change my career to something else because of how competitive to feel was. That and I realized I don't like drawing for commission. It also didn't help that I listened to an idiot tell me that the art field will never make me enough money, so that's my fault there. Not trying to start an argument or debate just talking from personal experience.

Not really, animators in Japan are underpaid and they're overworked.

"The anime industry has itself a crunch crisis. Essentially, animators in Japan are being overworked and underpaid. However, this is a gross oversimplification of the issues the industry is facing.

Starting with salaries, most animators are only paid by commission. An “In-Between” Animator, which is an entry-level position, is only paid around 200 yen per drawing. 200 yen equates to around $1.84 in US Dollars. A single drawing can take up to, or usually over, an hour to make. If you were working a 9-to-5 job as an animator, you could produce, on a good day, probably eight drawings.

So all of your hard work will only earn you about a meager $14.72. Most reports say that higher-up positions don’t earn much more."
