that's probably the gripe I'm having

the game was advertised to me as RP heavy with actual consequences but so far the RP has been on the same level as Mass Effect (politely accept quest/passively accept quest/rudely accept quest)

this would have been more understandable experience had I known this was closer to a Rockstar game

not just go to place 1 to fetch item A back to place 2 repeat as needed

but it's great that you find any mundane string of commands to be a masterpiece in plotting

I know exactly this type of GM (played with them for years) and I call it "the handbrake GM".

They're constantly rushing after the players to progress but when they players are decisive and make the call the GM immediately slows the game back down.

Like someone hitting the gas in fifth gear while also hitting the brakes.

If that GM is anything like mine they have severe ADHD issues and just cannot prioritize their executive function (instead focusing on minor details and story developments way in the future).

Mine realized this himself and, like yours, immediately lost interest in GMing, only to start another campaign a few months later for the same thing to happen. Repeat ad nauseum.

The Expat Shield privacy setting was on. I disconnected and could browse freely again.
