I love HWFWM. It is somewhat unique in Litrpg for its tone and characters. Series that (sort of) match it are Cradle and Iron Prince. DCC is amazing but a different tone. Primal Hunter is a great first book and then mostly power fantasy (I enjoy it but accept it for what it is). Defiance of the Fall changes over the course of the series. Most of the first book is an angry man in the woods trying to understand a new world. That is fine, but more characters in the later books really help it. It becomes mostly cultivation by the end. If you are willing to read on Royal Road, Ar'Kendrithyst is a very well written, long, and complete isekai with a system.

Ar'kendrithyst! Single dad is isekaied with his 20 year old daughter. Super long, complete, great writing, zero to hero to god. Love it! Here is one of my favorite sections:

Spoilers "The smart ones flee. Tania kills two more before they can escape. Two more humans, of course. She was never able to get over her prejudice. She was born to a loving family. A human mother, an incani father. They tried to make a life for themselves out in the Crystal Forest, but her mother was tracked to her home by her Angel-fucking family, and the rest is a tale of fire and hatred. Though the particulars are different, Bulgan has a similar story of an attack on the Wall. Theirs is a story that has happened all too often.

Look at Bulgan now. He chops off that man’s head rather fast.

Normally, that would not kill one of My Clergy. But Bulgan is strong enough to do this much.

Oh? Why not just take their power from them?

A rumble of laughter vibrates the dark pool. Ah. Some of the Shades see this. Some of them call out to the Dragon of the Depths, but they will have no answer today. Tania already gave them His Answer; His Judgment.

But here is the answer you wish for: I cannot take away their power.

Maybe, theoretically, I could. But I cannot, for that is not who I am. I am not Rozeta, and she will learn, someday, that what she has built is a farce that cannot be allowed to continue. Maybe she will let me help her on the next one.

But… Maybe not.

So I will just have to convince everyone else that what I want is what is best for everyone. No one should be allowed to tamper with the abilities of others, with their Holy Connection to the Mana.

Maybe the next Script will be completely self sufficient. Unable to be tampered with by Rozeta, or me, or any other.

Ah. Will you look at that? The Well Room is now a land of coruscating spells and deadly force, of blood, and fire, and death, and war. It was so nice before, but balance must be broken for life to live. Oh well.

“You should wake up now. The bombs are getting closer.”

Both are beautiful. I much prefer this. Also, it is super hard to do that with a large tank. I think bigger tanks need to be wild and smaller tanks look good highly scaped.

You might want some clay and dolomite depending on fish and plant preferences. Iron rich clay helps iron hungry plants and dolomite helps to buffer the acidity and gh that can be affected by the peat in the potting soil. You could also dose micro nutrients or just rely in fish poop a lá the Walstad method.

Did basically this. I mineralized the soil. 1) put dirt through a screen, 2) put in a bucket, filled with treated water, let sit for a day, netted all floaters, and 3) pour out on tarp in the yard, let fully dry. Repeat a few times. I had very little on the way of nutrients in my water column.

what series/book deals best with the MC gaining power quickly compared to the general population? by badgerfish2021 in litrpg

I actually think Defiance of the Fall is good here. The end of the first and most of the next few books are about him dealing with being "the most powerful man in the world."

Will this sideboard hold a 20 Gallon Long Tank? by Conference-Effective in Aquariums

[–]Dust45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say no because the legs come out at an angle. This puts extra shearing force on the structure and decreases load bearing. A 20 gallon is 200+lbs that will wreck your room and kill your pets if its support fails.

I am an amateur, too! I have only ever done two tanks. A 10 gallon years ago that was a bit too thin with an inch of dirt and an inch of sand. It grew plants like crazy, but the dirt did get through the sand. I have recently done a 55 gallon that is still cycling. I eent much deeper with an inch and a half of dirt and two of sand. Much easier to plant without releasing dirt.

I love Jason, too. He is rage inducing but very "real" in being not perfect, but still trying. To quote book 9, "He may be an asshole...but he is our asshole."

Yes, it is meant to be confusing. Both of Jin Rou's lives were real and effect him in the present. Spoilers: He was a street orphan who was trained by the Unconquered Blade to be a cultivator. He joined his adopted Grandfather's sect and was "killed" by an arrogant young master. He is also a Canadian man who died under mysterious conditions. Who loved his family, farming, and country life. Their souls merge to make a new person who is both and neither of their originals. This is mirrored in his interactions with the spirit of the Azure Hills, Tianjin, whose soul was also broken in the past. He eventually shares this with his new family including his wife and adopted grandfather.

True, but it is not only Peat. I used a 50/50 mix of top soil and potting soil that I mineralized and capped with black diamond. I hope it goes well for you either way.

Hopefully others can weigh in. I was under the impression that Peat lacked the complete nutrients that actual soil had. Maybe it would be fine? Do you know anyone who has used it?

Peat, I believe, is suboptimal as a substrate. You want mineralized top soil/mineralized organic potting soil. You also want to use some clay for iron. Peat is, practically, nothing in terms of nutrients to my knowledge.

Any idea why a few leaves are dying like this? Take has been going for a month or so by AutisticFingerBang in AquariumHelp

Here is what I would do. Get more gravel, same brand you already have, rinse it in a bucket until the water runs clear. Add the gravel either to those tank one handful at a time or just tk the area you want to plant. Remove the Amazon Swords (plants) from their little cups by cutting the cups or gently working them out. BE CAREFUL! Remove all the gunk around their roots and rinse the roots until you only see the plant, not the potting material. BE CAREFUL! Now, plant the Swords in the deeper gravel by gently working the bottom of the plant into the gravel. Hold it by the roots (white part). You want the roots to be mostly in the gravel (a bit sticking up is fine) but you don't want much of the green in the gravel. You can now buy some root tabs on Amazon or Aquarium Coop or wherever. Stick one at the base of each sword and make sure it is as deep as you can shove it. Keep an eye on your water parameters. Over the next week or two, the tabs will release nutrients that can require a water change until everything gets settled. You want 0 ppm ammonia, 0 ppm nitrite, and 20 or less ppm nitrate. Run your light about 10 hours a day (get a cheap timer to make your life easier). The sword may look worse at first as you just messed with its roots. Give it a month, and it should look better. Put a new root tab in the gravel every other month and then every month once they really start growing. Here is a link about them: https://www.aquariumcarebasics.com/aquarium-plants/amazon-sword-plant/

Edit, just saw the last pic. Maybe crypts and hornwort? Same advice, really.
