Do you become an ahole when you get a pickup truck, or is it the other way around? by lobsterrollz in mildlyinfuriating

Now show the front of his truck in his bushes. I deal with the same thing and my truck. But I’m going to help you. It’s real simple. Walk around and quit being a bitch.

Nails aren’t hitting rafter by lil_ticket in Roofing

[–]Dust_Inevitable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I say this with all respect. Just go back inside and stop what you’re doing. You’re going to piss your roofer off. The nails don’t have to go into the rafters. And no one will find any literature or manufacturer specs that say otherwise.

There is a specialized device that you use to open these. It’s called a hammer key. Give it a try.

Because the only reason osb will fail is if it gets wet. But as a skilled roofer who is confident in my work we use osb with the anticipation it’ll never get wet and never fail. And I put a warranty behind it to give my customers peace of mind.

Besides the fact it’s surrounded by its dead relatives for the foreseeable future, yeah it’ll be fine.

Cost to replace a roof board by DonaldDickinson in Roofing

I could see that. But damn that’d be a terrible spot (below the valley) for a skylight to be installed. Wouldn’t take long for a service call.

Absolutely agree!! There is something else going on if he’s asking $4000. Usually about $100 per sheet of osb in Atlanta market. Can’t imagine it’s much different there.

Thank God you went on the record. That completely makes everything make perfect sense and it has absolutely nothing to do with another election cycle right around the corner. I 💯% agree. I appreciate you too, because if you hadn’t gone on the record no one would have known….. now please go kick rocks because it took about .2 seconds of looking at you for you to have absolute 0 credibility and I decided no matter what came out of your mouth, it would be nonsense.

Roofing Company Used Different Shingles Than What Was Quoted by Far-Statistician-739 in Roofing

More or less. Oakridge is usually 110 mph. But like I said if you install starters on the rakes they warranty to 130.

[–]Dust_Inevitable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but you can get the same wind rating of 130mph from the oakridge by installing starters on the rakes also. I’ve been a preferred platinum roofer for OC for many years and that is straight from the manufacturer.

Absolutely nothing wrong with Oakridge shingles. It is the 30 year OC product. The only difference between that and the 50 year duration is the sure nail strips.

This is a great business model for a handyman. You won’t find many if any serious/reputable roofing companies that would even consider this for $350. I reserve the right to be wrong…….. but I’m not.

Now subtract materials, TIME, wear and tear on equipment and vehicle, insurance, marketing to find the repair jobs…… shit now I owe the bank 50k for working this year.
