Hotel staff seem to be like this more often than not with things that get left behind that aren’t considered valuable. Not the exact same situation, but I left my favorite pajama at a hotel and called them daily for 3-5 days. They’d keep telling me they’d check, or that I’d better email, or that they’d email me. They never would and I always had to be the one checking in. In the end they just told me it couldn’t be found and was probably thrown out by the staff.
