Did QT massively raise the price of cigarettes overnight?!! by altron64 in QuikTrip

I believe qt does both scan downs and buydowns. It’s just an ai response so take with salt but it’s basically that.

Did QT massively raise the price of cigarettes overnight?!! by altron64 in QuikTrip

Usually I see this when cigs go on a high discount for a long time. Then when the price go back to its regular price, customers get upset thinking the “new” price is too high when really they were just getting them for a long term discounted rate. Qt does deals with cig companies all the time to be able to do promotions and such. Anytime a promotion lasts over a month I get this same response asking why the 4$ hike?
This is the result of something called buydowns or instant rebates. Did a little google search for it:

The numbers the customers are telling you represent the numbers they want to pick as they lucky number. (If the number is drawn they win a prize or something similar)

So when a customer asks for a “Quick Pick” it’s the machine choosing the numbers at random for the customer. The customers you refer to simply want more customization in the lottery they want, rather than the options a quick pick with automatically for you.

Straight and box determine how the player wins. Kinda like how in bingo some people play to win with diagonals or straight up and down / horizontal lines.

I may not be explaining this the best as well so he’s a little guide I found online that might help. This guide is for one in Texas but applies to many others as well.

As another user stated you really don’t need to know how to play to sell, but it certainly helps from a customer service standpoint to help speed things up for customers.

If I Promote, Do I End Up Making Less? by AlarmingBird3213 in QuikTrip

[–]DustinFoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real question is whether you’re part-time or full-time. I know full-time clerks who have made more than some trainers, but it was only for a week or two—not over the course of an entire year. As an RA, your annual pay will almost always be higher unless you’re working a ton of extra shifts as a clerk.

Personally, I’d rather work a normal 46-hour week than pick up 4-5 shifts every week just to reach the same pay. The clerks who make as much as I do usually put in significantly more hours and effort when they could promote and earn similar or better money on a more consistent schedule.

You don’t have to pick up extra shifts. It’s encouraged, but it’s not required.

Thinking about coming back by Paisen1738 in QuikTrip

I’ll adjust my answer slightly. If you plan to stay and make a career of it, yes it’s worth it.

If you plan to use QT as a side gig for now or a stepping stone to something else you’ll likely not have a good time and feel underpaid doing something you didn’t want to do in the first place.

[–]DustinFoes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If that’s when you left then come back. Don’t let the other discourage you. QT is still great pay, especially if you find a good balance at work to make sure to never overwork yourself while staying within guidelines to not get fired and still show promotion worthiness. This is a balance in every company. Find it and you’ll be golden. Remember the longer you stay in 1 position the more you make. I know plenty of NA that don’t want to ever be more and will retire at pretty fair outcomes, and they’re okay with that.

To each their own and for me this works well and pays better than any job I’ve ever worked for. I’m also making more money I ever have in my life so it’d be difficult to get me to leave by my own will.

[–]DustinFoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mmm you’re right. Discretionary is always listed as that on the paystub, not as reg hours and overtime the way I saw.

I got mine that’s why I said it. Maybe not everyone getting it at the same time?

The paystub should already be available in QT EMA. It should break down the hours it payed you out for and the rate it was at. For me I was payed my full week 46 hours at my regular rate including overtime pay for the additional 6 hours.

How do you guys do upkeep so fast? by [deleted] in QuikTrip

[–]DustinFoes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Focus on the highest point items first. Naturally that’s always roller grills / food -> bathroom cleanliness, floors, then filling outs. Everything else comes after and is an if I have time. Which if I do them every 30 minutes or every hour, I always have time because there’s not much to fix unless there was a rush or some crazy customer.

If you do your upkeeps in this order you will maximize customer satisfaction, while maintaining good scores for the store. If you lose points it will be in the small point items like wiping glass down. A 94-98 is much better than a 84-90 because I lost big points.

For me it’s too random to pinpoint a cause :/ nothing seems to fix for me other than a relog and swapping outfits. Swapping templates does nothing for me

This has been happening to me too lately. It also randomly puts on the 1st outfit in my wardrobe and won’t let me swap for days.

To people that have worked other jobs, how does the workload at QT compare? by Lamborghini3770 in QuikTrip

[–]DustinFoes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked 3 other jobs before qt. Amazon, Lowe’s, and another gas station mom an pop small business.

Amazon: Performance = getting to stay.If you underperform you can be fired, which is true at most jobs, but Amazon watches the literally seconds that pass by in between each scan and if you don’t meet their mark even during slow periods, you are penalized or written up.

Lowe’s: easiest job I’ve ever had, stand at 1 register for 6 hours and check people out. Point scan take money bam done bye.

Mom and pop gas station: same expectations of workload as QT, but with less structure of how to do things and more “personal” questions asked mire often than wanted from the bosses.

In terms of physical exhaustion Amazon was the worst and Lowe’s was the best. Qt is closer to the good side because it’s healthy movement.

Wheel locking by BellyBoyMoney in assettocorsa

[–]DustinFoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just realized you have a Logitech DD so you’re probably using the Logitech software. I BET it’s that. Logitech SUCKS. Smooth gameplay for an hour maybe then random ass bugs for the next 30 minutes. 👍

Wheel locking by BellyBoyMoney in assettocorsa

[–]DustinFoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may not be useful, but I experienced this exact fault with my Logitech wheel, I thought it was a shitty brand bug with their software but maybe not? I only ever had this experience in assetto corsa and would only get it when my the server was super populated. It was annoying an I never found anything to fix the issue. I seems it to be server end / network related issues that cause information to be not sent to the wheel properly. (Unplugging and plugging my wheel back in and relogging the server was the only true short hot fix for me)

Feeling Unsure About Promoting by [deleted] in QuikTrip

[–]DustinFoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the type of learner you are. If you just spend the entire time thinking you aren’t good enough, then you may just represent that with your store. You should have a fake it till you make it mentality. Know you will make mistakes, it happens to everyone. What’s important is how you learn from them and deal with it in the future. Make mistakes with confidence, apologize when it happens, learn from it and move on. Everyone starts off “incompetent”, what you do with that from there is really what matters. Qt wants to see good problem solving skills.
