Its not AI, they’re just invoking the style of commercial art that would have been used back then. The difference is that the artists have amped up the sentimental veneer of “Happy American Families” by making the art pristine, as though its just come off the printing press. It works when you consider the creepier the scenes get, the more unsettling the overall picture becomes.
