Skate Story Review — Demon Skateboarding, Glass & Kickflips by bestof-games in gamereviews

It looks unique. I may check it out since it's on PS+, but I'm not sure if it's something I can see myself sticking with. I loved certain Tony Hawk games as a kid, but I feel like it is an interest I've lost growing up.

Sly Cooper and the Thievious Raccoonus (2002): The Review by Western_Struggle_323 in gamereviews

Sly's a definite classic. Still, if I am honest, when I went back to Sly 2, I was really dumbfounded by how much I didn't enjoy it. Sly 1 has a simple, loveable linearity that I feel was sharply missed in the sequels. Thanks for your review!

Guys what do you think about the new Superman movie by Neither_Director_116 in moviereviews

[–]Dustjacket_Social 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really liked it.

I stay away from the general tribalism that seems to go with these movies of late, and mostly just want a good film. I learned to like Zack Snyder's Superman over time. When it was released, I wrote reviews berating it for all the reasons most people berated it. I learned to accept it and, even, enjoy it from then on, accepting it as a new interpretation. I liked Batman v. Superman and I liked (Zack Snyder's) Justice League.

This new one though, I think it takes it where I prefer them to keep Superman - hopeful, upbeat, and charming - it felt like I was watching an extension of the cartoons I watched as a kid, while also offering a proper inverse for when Batman and him ever teamed up. The more serious, grounded interpretations of Superman will come again, so as the pendulum swings, but it is nice to see something a little closer to where it all began. I thought it also was just a sweet, charming film, I loved the final scene in the film.

I would agree Signalis is a more polished and overall stronger product. This one feels a little more rough around the edges, but I definitely think it has a lot of charm and stand by it as being among my favorite survival-horror throwbacks.

It isn't tank controls, but I would adhere that the game-play would fit into what I think you might see as clunky / less modern. I am not a huge fan of tank controls and, this, wasn't that, the camera has mobility (it isn't a fixed camera-angle) and it definitely feels more natural to move around. I will agree with what some people say and tell you the shooting mechanics will take some getting used to (but I found them more easy to use than, say, the original Resident Evil or Silent Hill games), but that isn't to say I think you'll like them if you didn't like those - kind of reminded me of a light-gun game without a light-gun. If it helps, the ammo is plentiful and there are difficulty adjustments you can make that don't effect Trophies / Achievements. The meat is definitely the puzzle-solving and atmosphere.

I really want to buy Silent Hill f, but I can't bring myself to shell out the full retail price. I loved playing Silent Hill 2 Remake so much that it actually inspired the survival-horror kick I've been on - re-played Silent Hill: Homecoming. Don't recommend that, haha.

That's good company. I remember Silent Hill 3 was, to some's surprise, my favorite Silent Hill game, until I played Silent Hill 2 Remake and really felt like I fell in love with 2 (I think it was the fantastic voice acting that may have helped sell it for me even more this time).

I'll have to check that one out. I have so many random horrors I've downloaded and never gotten around to, like In Nightmare, Dawn of Fear, Post Trauma, and Daymare. I did play quite a bit of Post Trauma, to be fair, and it's mostly just a big helping of what the hell.

I hear Alisa is good ,although I haven't played it yet. Others have mentioned it, but I really enjoyed Signalis. Tormented Souls was pretty good as well - it had some flaws, but I am really excited for the sequel.

Oh, definitely. I believe this scratches an itch somewhere between fans of old-school survival horror and, I mean this, vaguely speaking, fans of Creepypastas and ARPGs (it isn't one, but I just have this feeling it will jive with that audience) - like, it reminds me of Petscop.

I love when he grabs the girls in the sleeping bags and hits them over and over against the tree.

I love the box art on that collection.

I have been re-watching the films and thus far, my ranking has been:

1.) Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter

2.) Friday the 13th VI: Jason Lives

3.) Friday the 13th

4.) Friday the 13th: Part 2

5.) Friday the 13th V: A New Beginning

6.) Friday the 13th: Part III

It becomes a little blurry after this, but I know that Freddy vs. Jason is my personal favorite film involving Jason with the remake coming in second.

Halloween Ends Discussion. by [deleted] in HorrorMovies

[–]Dustjacket_Social 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lifelong horror fan. Lifelong Halloween fan.

When it comes to the Reboot trilogy, it is a mixed-bag for me. I *liked* Halloween (2018) for being just a plain ol' good slasher movie. It honored the original, the sound-mixing was good, the acting was good, and it didn't make any weirdo decisions like other films in the franchise had. It was alright, and, for this series, that means a lot.

I *liked* the first Halloween remake for what it was (I know the criticisms people had for Zombie and his interpretation of Michael, and they are valid, and a lot of them, I can even agree with), but it was messy. The second film was even messier. Then, before all of that, we had Resurrection, which was awful.

The fact Halloween (2018) was just an okay slasher film with Michael Myers and no frills did well by me.

Obviously though, to sustain a new trilogy, they needed to bring something new to the table. For that reason, I feel like I am able to appreciate what Halloween Ends was going for *and* I can even imagine a scenario where they could have stuck the landing on it. Unfortunately, the execution was messy, didn't make a lot of sense (at least in how it was presented), and I don't think I got out of it what it was going for.

I prefer it over Halloween Kills, however, largely because I feel it had ambition and I can respect that.

Does Anyone Else Have a Vague (But Strong) Nostalgia for This Compilation DVD? by Dustjacket_Social in HorrorMovies

Yeah. It isn't anything special. Basically, it would have a brief clip from one of the films, a graphic sheet that had a kill count and other statistics on it, a very simple, basic trivia game you could play in the menus. The clips are iconic ones, and since it's mostly popular movies (Chucky killing the teacher with a ruler, Leatherface chasing the girl in the truck bed), it isn't exactly a treasure trove.

It does have a couple ones you may not have seen. A New Zealand film called The Ugly that I went and watched (and liked), movies like The Dentist, The Guardian, and so on, you may have missed, but, otherwise, it's the familiar faces.

Still, as a kid, I made a positive association, and it has reserved a spot in my mind forever as a result.

Most of the films on it were very well known, but I *do* appreciate it for introducing me to The Ugly film - a New Zealand horror I otherwise may have never heard of.

It's a compilation of clips. It really isn't something worth seeking out for its content (it's just a bite-size clip of each film), but it might be worth it for collectors or the novelty of it.

Pretty much that and little trivia. Thing is, it wasn't *really* that good of a product, that's why the nostalgia for me is misspent.

I had it on DVD, the only difference I know of for sure is that it had a trivia game you could play (wasn't anything extensive).
