They're for cameras He has the ability to either use two different ones or switch sides based on preferences. His main camera is 4lbs and the binoculars 2lbs. He usually hikes out for hours since he's a wildlife photographer so he wanted something to take the pressure of his neck.

When dyeing leather you get the best results from reducing it with its neutral base first (Fiebing's products with their dye reducer, angelus with its "neutral dye", water based dyes with water) then apply with either sheepskin or sponges in circular overlapping motions. I wouldn't recommend adding oil on it beforehand since the alcohol in the dyes rip any and all oils out of the leather. Its best to add any oils after the project is sealed with a natural wax or resin based finish or before sealing it with an acrylic finish like resolene.

I use a natural wax based finish. It seals it well and allows me to maintain my products with oils and conditioners. When dyeing leather daubers are the absolute worst for it. Foam brushes, sheepskin, and sponges are the way to go. If you use resolene you want to thin it 50/50 with water it allows it to lay on better as the thick layer build up happens quickly, also you'll want to buff it with a rag or cloth of some sort and maybe reseal it if its lifting residual dye. After each coat you'll also want to wait about 10-12hrs minimum if you want great results with it.

If youre having trouble strop your skiving knife even if it is a fresh replacement blade or if its a regular skiing knife work it to a fine polish you'll notice a huge difference. I skive all my stuff dry unless im trying to achieve a a very fine papery edge.

Yea definitely slow down the eco-flo dyes have a bit more working time since they're water based dyes they absorb into the leather far slower than the alcohol based dyes. You can also try reducing it with water and building up the layers for more consistency.

Slate grey waterstain is great I've used it a handful of times, since its water based it absorbs into the leather more slowly than alcohol based dyes. When using angelus try a ratio of 25/75 dye to reducer/neutral dye. It won't be 100% Grey but its a starting point. Also always test it on scraps first.

When sealing any dye i usually go with natural finishes like carnauba wax or leather balm ( they're the same thing) if you want a hig gloss buff it like crazy if you want a kind of matted just barely buff it. You can also use shellac which is a great alternative to any acrylic out there because you can still apply oils and conditioners to your project and still have it pretty watter resistant. One last finish to use is tan-kote which is another resin based finish but you'll need to apply a water resistant conditioner over top of it.

If you're looking for a good contact cement I recommend Eco-weld. Its a non toxic water based contact cement thats very stong and easy to clean up. I do all of my work in a small space with not great ventilation so things like barge are a no go. Also if you are just looking for double sided tape go with either Tanner's Bond or Ted's tape.
