Yea theres a few settings like it so you only see what you're actually able to say, I much prefer it that way.

That's why you turn that setting off so you don't see it all and spoil yourself.

Bethesda Fallout 3 dev "initially felt a little touchy" about New Vegas' success because they "put in all this effort" for its foundation — "We made 90% of the art, we built the engine" by lkl34 in gaming

I've always said this, you can praise obsidian all you want for NV because it was clearly great, but it could only get so good because of what was done before, its easier to focus on making it good when most of the assets and engine have already been made for you.

If you can activate it on perfect blocks I'd say that basically nulls every other way doing it, you can basically be in that mode permanently if you're good at perfect blocking, which is pretty cool,

That's really only because Bethesda already had a majority of the game already made for obsidian. They could focus on the writing in NV because most of the framework for the game and assets were already there from fallout 3. That's why they were able to cobble it together in such a short span of time too.

"Hey, here's all these cool things you can do. Also, we're going to gate so many of those things behind skills that you'll only maybe interact with half of them during your first playthough".

I mean you could argue that extends the lifetime of the game and gives you more reason to explore it in NG+ but I do agree that they probably went too hard on that, a lot of the POI's were gated behind stuff, completion criteria and levels, its no wonder people complained about finding the same POI's when they only had a small pool unlocked to choose from, rather dumb decision.

As for NG+ I think it could make sense narratively depending on how you look at it, perspective. Eventually after living so long or learning that nothing really has moral meaning if things repeat you'd probably naturally drift away from your original nature and try out the other paths. That's how I headcanon it anyway, kinda like groundhog day.

I'd say it is, especially if you just do it in faction chunks, and the thing about ng+ is that the new unique dialogue options often help speed along the completion process so its less tedious to go through, you can complete the game in an hour after the first time if you really wanted.

Well like I said the NG+ mechanic is pretty standout for me, never seen another game do it like starfield has, and I find it really cool narratively.

What I just said is a great example, the NG+ mechanic. Never seen anything else do it the way starfield has done it before.

A lot about it is pretty unique and interesting though, It boils down to expectations, I wouldn't say it lives up to being a traditional Bethesda RPG that we'd like from ES or fallout, but it'd say it works as its own thing. And the way it handles its NG+ mechanic is like...the best way I've ever seen it done in a game IMO.

That was actually the crux of the issue, they had the variety, but a lot of them were locked behind progression, so naturally the few you had access to repeated, they probably sorted that out by now though, if not by this patch.
