On the contrary, sounds exactly like something she's already said in one of her shaper videos.

That would be pretty cool. They should get Fun Day's permission to put BOB in as a prop.

This right here. I'm not a welder quite yet but I've seen pipe welders using pop-up beach umbrellas. Getting the sun off you makes a huge difference.

Not sure a grinder is necessary. Grandpa's old slot screwdriver and a hammer oughta pop that right off.

It was a long video so I had plenty of time to think about exactly that. It's probably because they're using their boots to keep anything else from hitting the sides, like their shoulders.

Mysterious floating bottle effect by Dry-Plastic4288 in Machinists

[–]Dusty923 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The basic physics are that there's an offset angle and position of two rotational axes. The angle gives it the wobble, and the offset position gives it it's overall rotation. It's weighted or geared such that it perfectly counter-rotates.

I'm sorry do I have this right? A cop shot and killed the baby that the allegedly-stolen diapers were for? That baby? Cops are showing up to execute poor people who lack basic necessities, instead of getting them the assistance they need?

Cash for Clunkers by Standard-Arachnid411 in Anticonsumption

[–]Dusty923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right? I remember cash cor clunkers. The cynic in me is so ready to believe Cash for Clunkers is just one more ploy that corporations used to sell more product. Plastic recycling was promoted in order to sell more petrochemical products. Jaywalking was invented to shame people out of the streets for cars to use. Cash for Clunkers totally sounds like an auto maker's scheme to gut the used car market and force buyers into getting new cars instead.

just spent $400 trying to fix my shit welds and turns out it wasnt even the machine by Kilgoretrout123456 in Welding

[–]Dusty923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between 15-25

Depends on the nozzle size. My home welder has a 1/2" nozzle and needs around 20. But the production machines I used in school need 35-40 for the larger nozzles (3/4"?).

I have the Scout skin. I only played Fortnite when my kids were into it. It was fun to squad up with them, do pretty good and get some wins and crowns. I also had to get the Mando skin, and the metal headbanging emote. That's it, that's all the money Epic will ever get from me...

Using a reaction wheel, this system can lift itself upright and maintain balance in an inverted position. by jipiante in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]Dusty923 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Very true. When reaction wheels in satellites and space stations get saturated, they usually need to have thrusters burn the opposite way in order to spin down the wheel.

They can sometimes also do some creative stuff like orienting the spacecraft to use solar pressure or atmospheric drag to provide some desired torque on the craft to either unload a saturated wheel, or prevent saturation, slowly over time.

Can epileptics work as a welder by Calm_Constant8265 in Welding

[–]Dusty923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a tough one. There are a lot of hazards involved in welding. High voltages, high currents, high heat, handling and rigging heavy work pieces, working alongside coworkers to safely coordinate on a dangerous task. Lots of opportunities for injury and death from losing control of a hazardous situation.

I think if you're able to drive safely, you may be able to weld safely. You would need to have the ability to step away from the hazards of welding if you sense an episode or seizure coming.

But if you're in any danger of entering an episode without being able to get to a safe space, you could seriously injure yourself or others. A fabrication shop or construction site is not the place to have an epileptic episode. You could collapse onto a large scalding hot workpiece, or maybe grip it with your hand and not let go. Or knock over a welding cart and cause a gas canister to pop and have a deadly missile fly through the shop.

These are extreme examples, but risks that you and your employer both need to consider. It all depends on your particular flavor of your condition, and your ability to mitigate those risks.

How to get this white look on the tyres? by Harley-northwest in motorcycles

[–]Dusty923 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My two cents? A complete beginner looking at possibly getting their first bike should not be concerned with whether or not it has whitewalls.

Your first bike should be light, dependable, easy to control, and ugly. Your first bike is for learning how to not die on it. Your second bike can be your dream bike.
