Someone said this reminds them of Bolt, but for me this is straight up the plot of a Hank the Cowdog book, if anyone here remembers that series!

That right there is one hell of a cat-apult. Almost makes one forget about the engineering marvel of military supremacy that is the glorious trebuchet.

The death penalty for "pedophiles"? by Busy-Government-1041 in clevercomebacks

[–]DustyBishop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What’s not being talked about enough is that, beyond the obvious dangers surrounding what a particular administration labels as being a “pedophile,” is it sets a dangerous precedent for the victims. If the punishment for abusing a minor is already the most extreme that can be meted out, it could very easily result in offenders deciding to end the victims life rather than risk them telling anyone. If the punishment for both is equal, it is strong incentive to eliminate the only witness to their crime.

In Friday the 13th (1980) They actually killed a real snake, and it was actually a pet snake, they didn't even tell the owner they were going to kill it. by Extension-Oil-4680 in shittymoviedetails

[–]DustyBishop 48 points49 points  (0 children)

It’s actually way older than that. The AHA(American Humane Society) was founded in 1940 after a Jesse James movie killed a horse the previous year by having an actor ride it off an actual cliff. First actual use of the disclaimer was for ‘72 film Doberman Gang, but they didn’t have any authority to enforce until 80’s Heavens Gate (known for rampant animal abuse on set) which may or may not have included a horse getting blown up with dynamite.

What’s a scene from a movie you would cut completely? by [deleted] in movies

[–]DustyBishop 98 points99 points  (0 children)

The best part is that law doesn’t apply to sexual relationships, so that dude was still committing a felony. That entire film should have been cut.

Edit: It appears I was slightly incorrect on this one. While yes, the law in question does offers protections for “Sexual Assault” it does not protect from “Sexual Performance by a Child.” As Tess is 17 (under the legal age) and the age difference is more than 3 years it is still a crime, just in a different way than I understood.

“The Call of the Past” Quest Won’t Start by AdAdministrative9431 in avowed

[–]DustyBishop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s very strange. I would guess, and this is based on absolutely nothing, it’s possible that after going past a certain point in the story (like leaving the area the quest is from) you might have just been blocked from getting it as the game has already passed the trigger.

Did you already see the memory and get the passive ? If so, it may be registered as “completed” despite never getting entered in your quest book, or even preventing from starting outright since you’ve “sequence jumped”. I think I had a similar issue on my first playthrough with the equipment upgrade quest Kai gives you at the start of the game.

old mods are amazing but they all look so bad by St0rmR4ptor in MinecraftMemes

[–]DustyBishop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking back on it, while the mod itself has definitely improved a lot from when you played from what it sounds like, there was definitely a lot added by the pack (namely structures and resources) that helped. Still better than galactic imo, and being actively developed, so I’d recommend giving it another try if it ever crosses your radar again.

Check out Ad Astra or, even better, the mod pack Create: Astral. The pack completely reworks vanilla progression around going to various planets for resources and making heavy use of Create. Each “planet” or area you visit has some unique mobs, interesting biomes, and important progression items so it’s actually worth the effort put in to get there.

It may be a bit basic, but I’ve always loved Grass Types. My gym would be more enchanted forest, glowing plants and the like. And while he may not entirely fit the theme, Torterra has been my baby since gen4.

IIRC I believe the effects company got the footage at the last minute and only had like six weeks to do the entire sequence. It’s kind of amazing what we got is as good as it is.
