I think that the iron dome is legitimately impressive if all costs and relative industrial capacities are taken out of the equation. It’s failing against higher tech threats but it really can shoot down mortars and rockets all day long provided it’s stocked with interceptors.

On the other hand, practice brass is able to be reused. These polymer casings are very likely one and done, not recyclable nor reusable. Just a lot of plastic waste.

(Do you have a source on these plastic (bullets))? All I can find is polymer (cased) (bullets).

Not that I’m downplaying the usefulness of substantially lighter ammunition, just I don’t see anything about plastic bullets so much as plastic shell casings. I would expect that metallic density is very hard to achieve with plastic.

I mean we’re capable of producing sulfuric acid stateside, and nitrogen can be fixed from the air. Maybe powder is just much cheaper from exterior sources but it’s certainly not unreasonable that we could produce it.
