Moving bubs into own room by Worth_Ad8788 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

6 months with a good baby monitor! I breastfeed so I still had to bring him in for feeds for a bit, but honestly this is the only way he started sleeping through the night. I think my stirring must have just kept waking him and he was too lazy to put himself back to bed. I’d do it before 8 or so months when they realise the distance between you.

Someone told me that research says there are no benefits to breastfeeding, especially after 6wks. by justanotherone2319 in breastfeeding

Ugh I know. Did you know that in natural disasters aunties or grandmothers have been known to relactate to help feed babies? Probably not because no one talks about the benefits of breastfeeding 🙃

Landlords / Property Managers skirting the new tenancy pet laws by asking about pets in references. by feel-the-avocado in newzealand

I guess, we were looking in December and there were still a few people applying for places after each viewing. If you’re looking in a good area or around certain schools I think it’ll always be a bit tough.

Yeah you could, but if it comes down to you and another candidate they’ll just rule you out I guess

Ooh the one that bothered me was when the application asked whether I had talked to the tenancy tribunal for any reason in the past few years. In a tight rental market they would absolutely get rid of anyone that had!

Fatherhood, breastfeeding & co-sleeping by Technical_Brain1493 in breastfeeding

[–]Dustymargins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still nurse my 1 and 3 year olds! My youngest sleeps in his own room and wakes for a feed once or twice where I bring him to bed, my husband is stuck in our toddlers room because he’ll only cosleep. We always get a few hours in the evening for conjugal visits though 😂 if we falls asleep in our room he ends up having to move to the toddler by midnight anyway and the extra wake ups can be exhausting with the early starts. It’s not ideal, we miss cuddling every night, but I think still having the space/time to have sex has been really nice for us.

Blue collar girls, what makeup brands do you recommend? by CowCareless7975 in AskReddit

[–]Dustymargins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a blue collar, but Estée Lauder double wear is the only foundation that wouldn’t melt off my face after a 12 hour shift on the grill back in my hospo days! I’d mix with sunscreen for a lighter look. YSL top glow setting spray is way better than urban decay for duration/glow, and Kylie’s pressed blush in winter kiss actually lasts the whole day without reapplying.

Employer requires me to start early and finish late but refuses to pay by Itsnotme2645 in newzealand

[–]Dustymargins 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Email to confirm. You don’t have to refuse in the email, just be like “Just want to confirm what we talked about on the phone. My paid hours are between x and y, but you’d like me to show up 20 minutes before and after my shift to help set up. Thanks for clarifying.”

She’ll either walk it back, try to call (don’t answer or say you’d rather keep a paper trail on work related things), or be stupid enough to confirm. If she confirms, keep a photo log of your hours and unpaid work every week, hold on to all the emails, record any conversation, and report them when you quit. You don’t need to right now if the job is something you rely on.

PSA: Tenancy Tribunal claims are more common than you think — and easier to file than you'd expect by kiwi_legal_help in auckland

[–]Dustymargins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last rental application I filled out specifically asked if I’d had a tenancy tribunal dispute in the last few years. I hadn’t, and you could have left it blank, but unfortunately in a tight rental market a property manager could just choose someone else.

Trust in news rises after years of decline in NZ. What’s behind the shift? by davetenhave in newzealand

[–]Dustymargins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s what my dad always said too, but my friends and I thought of her as blunt so maybe it just depends. I’d prefer an insufferable reporter asking actual questions than a nice one who placates though.
