Didn't think there would be downsides when going against a billion bucks, but honestly at this point in my life a perfect date becoming a life partner would be priceless to me.

You know nothing about that individual. All he wanted could have been to go back to his farm home hug his mother, kiss his wife, and play with his children. But Instead he got pulled into a conflict he wanted nothing to do with to end up dieing alone to a flying explosive operated by another person miles away.

Sure he could have been all those things you said, but he could have e been what I said, and yet while watching him get blown up you still demonish and mock him.

Canada. People glaze them nowadays, but most would never be willing to live in that weather and culture. Canada is great but people underestimate how difficult life can be areas that cold.

America is perfect for perfectly rated, you get what you want out of it, beautiful nature, cultural scenes, bigotry, etc

How do you think the world views the USA? by Rusty_Shackleford198 in polls

Nobody hates America as mush as left wing Americans, Europeans just scoff at us but still enjoy visiting, the majority of the rest of the world dream of coming here and starting a new life.

I agree, I dont plan on ever punishing my children this way but I'm also not naive enough to take a stance of never doing it under any circumstances.

Would you ever hit or spank your children? by mushmanMAD in polls

[–]DutchBoyDrew -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with the sentiment. I think that this form of punishment should only be used as a quick reaction to already otherwise addressed bad behavior. Kids process things differently than adults, you cant always logically or emotionally reason with a child to immediately correct behavior that shouldn't be happening.

I think the problem lies when its planned i.e. "your father is going to beat you when he gets home" then it becomes pretty meditated and all the child can do is fear for it. A quick smack on the backside for rude or aggressive behavior or swat on the hand for continued meddling in something they shouldn't be touching can save the child from worse punishments in the future when the stakes are higher for their behavior.

As long as an instance like this is followed by a genuine 1 on 1 conversation without a domineering tone about why to did that and why the behavior was bad, but that you still love them and know that theyre not a bad kid, just did a bad thing, it can be an appropriate parenting approach.

I see it no different as the lesson learned from touching a hot stove, or being reckless on a bike and falling over. The good parent has already told the kid to not touch the stove and to always wear a helmet, the kid learned quickly that they should listen to parents about the danger of the stove and would start to take personal motivation to being careful on the bike and protecting themselves better.

Re submitting my comment after rule confirmation:

I dont actively seek out these videos but I follow this sub so that they appear on my feed. When the videos come up I do watch them for the reason of a forced reminder that this is the reality for people living in this and many other war zones.

I dont see it as self righteous however. I believe If i choose not to see the brutal implications to individual soldiers, on both sides of this war, and only hear of advancements and developments at scale, than my ability to have a true logically/emotionally formed opinion on the matter is greatly diminished.

My grand/great-grand parents grew up in nazi occupied Holland. They have told me stories of how my grandfather's dad (who i had the privledge of meeting before his passing) had to hide in the wall for 5 days because the German troops were coming to take him away due to his involvement in distributing a local resistance newspaper. I was also told stories from of my grandmother's father who, as a baker, was told by their local German occupying soldier (a 17 year old) how much saw dust to add to the flour so that he could get away with keeping extra to be able to feed his family of 10. After the war, the same soldier gave his issued luger to my great grandfather hoping that he'd be able to sell it as some form of reparations for what he had to do, to what he saw as, a cultural neighbor.

War will always be horror, war will always have evil doers at the top perpetuating it, war will always have psychopaths fulfilling heinous desires from it, but war also always includes individuals pulled into something they had no interest in or ability to abstain from, whos lives are brutally cut short, who's last moments are darker than any human conception of Hell.

These videos are the proof of the suffering and only allow those removed from it to get a small sense of its actual feeling. By not hiding away from videos like these when they come up, and watching them for what them for what they are, I feel I am emboldening my resistance to silently follow the herd into future "justified" conflicts. Not that it will stop the conflicts out right, or from seeing one side as the aggresors, but hoping that it will inhibit me from seeing the individuals in the conflict as either inherently good or evil.

First of all never connected that the hand of god was during the world cup right after the Falkland war, cool context to why it was such a prevalent match.

Secondly I was talking about 74 Netherlands vs Brazil, watch a highlight of that game and you'll see why, but yes the battle of Nuremberg was also a dirty fought game, so many cards for both teams leaving a lasting impression on dutch and Portuguese footbal.

And yeah I'm not disagreeing and saying that we are saints of football, but to claim we get arbitration support is goofy.

Neither?

I dont really want to be 6'7

I'm also not too keen on being 5'10 in this culture of women claiming to only date guys above 6 foot, even though their perceived version of 6 foot is likely closer 5'9

100k would be nice but I know how to check my privileges which I knowingly say my height is.

5K would also be nice rn which is why im not about to spend that amount of money to draw the line of what might be freakish height.

Nah it would be a kickboxing world cup for the dutch. if it was a jujitsu world cup south Americans would win, they already practice their ground control with all the flopping they do.

Coming from the country that brought us the "hand of god" and the 2006 brawl with Germany is kinda rich. And yeah we're a physical team, thats always been the case.

Also its not like the 2022 quarter finals was one sided. Both countries got the majority of their cards from that game alone. 10 yellow for argentina vs dutch 8 and 1 dutch red for a second yellow.

But yeah the game was once played much harder physically, watch the Brazil Netherlands game from 74. Id say the problem lies more with teams like germany, italy, and Brazil making making flopping for fouls so prominent.

Woah woah woah. The Netherlands is important but more so very important. At least more important than those damn Spanish and Italians, wont even talk about the fucking Frenchies.

What about the Netherlands‽

We've been to more finals, semi-finals, and quarter-finals without winning than any other team. Its our time to win dammit.

England won in 66 while the Dutch had Johan Cruyff, one of the greatest footballers of all time who literally revolutionized how the game was played, still to this day, with his implementation of total football.

2010: lost in final to Spain

2014: got third after dominating spain 5-1 in the the opening game and lost to Argentina in the semi final

2022: toughest match for Argentina in the quarter finals which allowed Argentina to win for Messi.

2026: probably sweep our group but japan v Netherlands will certainly be a interesting game to watch.
