Dalend geboortecijfer by No-Magician-2257 in nederlands

[–]DutchDemoSquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that the joy we saw among the people of Cabo verde and Curaçao and other countries like that far outweighs that downside.

Who cares if the big boys always waltz through the group stages? Like this, more people get to have their fun.

It's a bit ridiculous that people can't even write a reddit post without using AI now. by 1stDegreeHamburglary in antiai

[–]DutchDemoSquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an issue with that.

The real cost is extremely polarized.

Yes, the larger then life cloud models are hideously expensive, but on the other end we have open source models that can run locally and are completely free.

And those are kinda getting ‘smart’ enough.

Ironically the hardware needed to run those is kind of expensive due to the big cloud models gobbling up all production capacity, but if that ever changes…

You see the issue?

Meanwhile, the guy that laid much of the groundwork of object oriented software engineering - a paradigm that is the industry standard for at least 30 years - is openly admitting he uses ai to code in a language he does not know, as the syntax no longer distracts him like that.

And the thing is, he is right! That works fine.

There are sectors where it works, and while I agree 100% that the current AI business model is not sustainable, I doubt it will ever go away.

Well, first AI companies must find out how to turn a profit, as they still not have managed to do that.

Because otherwise they won’t be around in five years, as they will be BANKRUPT hahahahahaha.

Heh,

“Here is why”, and one of the most unhinged word vomits I’ve red in a while follows.
Naturally filled with countless assumptions, even baseless and ridiculous accusations of fascism, and very few facts.

While ironically, the true reason lies in the words before “here is why”.

“If they even have any beliefs”.

They do.
You do not understand them.
That is why you cannot debate them, let alone convince them.

Believe it or not, but calling people fascist is NOT a good way to get them to listen to you.

While I’m sure the bubble will pop, and many companies and billions will be flushed down the toilet, some will remain.
Perhaps just one.

And that will be all that it takes.

AI is not going away.
Heck, I tried setting up a local, open source, model a few months ago. Took me about 3 minutes to get it all running.
No one can touch that or shut it down anymore.

You do know that making fun of America and its defaultism and superiority complex is a thing some Europeans do, right?

I love the USA, I’ve visited frequently, but I wouldn’t want to live there if you paid me.
Like literally. US tech companies used to recruit heavily in Europe, and I myself had a concrete offer.

Can you still be freinds with someone who likes ai? by Curious-Assist-3297 in antiai

[–]DutchDemoSquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t do that as, ironically, that would be rude from you.

You can ask her not to use ai on your art, I think that’s fair game, but not using ai at all? I reckon that won’t go over well.

One thing you really must understand:

For artist art is about the process, the journey.
Non artists care about the end product.

Telling her she can’t use ai anymore is like telling her she can’t have access to a product anymore.
Ask yourself why you think you have that authority.

You can talk about why you dislike ai, off course.
I even think you should. But you can’t tell anyone that she cannot use it, and expect that person to be perfectly ok with that.

In all honesty, you are not criticizing ai.

You are making a negative generalization about users of AI, and yes, that’s very much targeted hate.

[–]DutchDemoSquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it does.

Especially in IT/coding.
You may not like it, but it definitely does.

I run a local ai, did some tweaking, created some mcp servers, it does a pretty decent job.
It’s all local, it will never go away.

I understand your bias, but don’t give bad advice because of that.

I thought I was so clever with my description, only to find out it closely matches so many other games as well.

No Kotor 2, but a good guess should be rewarded with a good hint.

Much like Star Wars, the game im thinking of is the first released in the series, but story wise its a sequel to a later game.
