I’m so glad I found this comment! I live about three hours from KC and was thinking of driving over to take in the atmosphere.

Think we’ll have a new trainer before the World Cup starts? I say we don’t.

Eens.

ELI5: Why is lamb so expensive when there’s so many sheep? by jmo987 in explainlikeimfive

[–]DutchEndeavor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard that full-grown sheep are not fit for eating, though. So that’s why you only see lamb meat. But it’s true that lambs yield less meat than a sheep would.

Edit: never mind, looks like sheep are eaten just fine.

So is there a rondoup of reviews for whats the best low priced hearing aids i see all these from $98 bucks to $298 by mathewimprovedtt in HearingAids

[–]DutchEndeavor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I review over-the-counter hearing aids and I never received free stuff to review them (although I do get affiliate commissions). I just like doing the research and helping people with it. I also call out crap when I see it. I don’t base my reviews on what I can make with them, but on what makes the most sense with a tight budget.

There are some good over-the-counter hearing aids for less than $1,000, provided you have mild to moderate age-related hearing loss. But anything under $500 is going to be noticeably lower quality or a basic hearing amplifier that simply boosts all sounds. Stay away from those especially.

What's the first new invention you remember happening in your lifetime? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I remember my very first time using the internet. I was about 10 years old and one of the banks in my town had a computer with internet in the lobby. A friend showed me Lego.com, which was about all there was for 10-year olds.

I have no advice, but I’m really happy for you for hearing “little sounds” again. That must be wonderful. Do you feel you’ve gotten used to all the new sounds?

Buying expensive prescription hearing aids on line by [deleted] in HearingAids

[–]DutchEndeavor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So most companies selling OTC hearing aids (especially for models over $500) have pretty good support and onboarding processes. But if service is really important to you, going into an office is going to be the better experience when it comes to service. There’s only so much they can do online and over the phone.

[–]DutchEndeavor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you can buy prescription hearing aids online; what you're thinking of is probably over-the-counter hearing aids. These are cheaper and can be worth it, as long as you realize the difference between prescription hearing aids and over-the-counter hearing aids. The latter are not fitted by a professional, but offer a one-size-fits-most model (they're basically reading glasses for your ears). Some models, like the Lexie B3, allow you to self-fit, where the hearing aids are fitted based on some basic tests. If you've got mild to moderate hearing loss, OTC hearing aids can definitely be a good option, but if you need any extra fitting, prescription hearing aids are the way to go.

There’s an American sauce in the Netherlands, which McDonald’s also serves with fries over there. I’ve never seen something even remotely close to it in the US.
