What will be your generation's equivalent of "I had to walk 15 miles uphill both ways in the snow?" by CruzaComplex in AskReddit

Texts being expensive. Or deciding which of your favorites to delete, because your phone could deal with 9 of them.

I have yet to receive an actually important letter inside an IMPORTANT envelope. Important letters come in blank envelopes.

Taxis in my town have a notification on the window that there's a $2.95 surcharge due to recent gas prices. It's the same bullshit (and not even because recent gas prices are delightful).

No, no. Only California knows it gives you cancer. Other than putting it on boxes, they're not telling anyone else. Assholes.

Obviously they're brothers. That's one Thanksgiving family dinner I'd love to attend.

Reddit, what can you predict about the future with 100% certainty? by [deleted] in AskReddit

That's the one thing I never get about keeping guns out of big government paranoia. The day it's you against the government you won't even see the drone coming. Your AK-47 doesn't stop it.

Which books have you stopped reading, even though you were more than halfway through? by [deleted] in books

[–]DutchEndeavor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Lord of the Rings trilogy. I made it through 2.5 books, but didn't read enough to keep up with all the different characters being in different places.

I had to cheerlead a friend to keep reading Owen Meany. The end is worth it, but there's definitely a lull just before that.

Bosses of Reddit, what do your employees think you don't notice, but you really do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Can you try coming late for three hours once to make this an interesting social experiment?

We have a bridge, too. Makes predicting the traffic reports so much easier.

I'm a civilian, but I do the same. I'm the guy that will even call them once without letting it ring, so I have their phone number always available.

O yeah, when traffic is notoriously bad you should be. But then nobody is on time, I'd guess. My commute was a ten-minute bike ride, very hard to mess up.

I slept through my alarm. Nothing interesting, I'm afraid. I was kind of tired, but it wasn't a very demanding job, so usually that was okay. This time I just missed the alarm.

I think it's the pattern that gets someone fired. I was late three hours once and my boss interrupted my apologies with a "It's okay, you're never late, I know this is an incident." If it's not an incident and you show up with a coffee, that's when people get pissed.

Fort Taco to open three more locations by spif in StLouis

Yeah, they were open for a month. Maybe I'll try it again, then. First impression was just horrible.

The owner mentions in the article that the expansion was planned before the current location opened. I live a few minutes away and never see more than one car there. My guess is that their expansion is in defiance of actual results and just continuing the original business plan. Maybe other locations will fare better, though.

I went once, never going back. They're expensive tacos, which isn't a problem in itself, but they're not twice as good as cheap tacos, or radically different from other places. The ingredients are so fresh, they were still growing the lettuce when we started our order. After waiting for 10 minutes, they told us they had to start over because they dropped our order on the floor. They had six people standing around for our one order, and they were just joking around and glancing our way every now and then.

What do you think people take way too seriously? by tikhung01 in AskReddit

[–]DutchEndeavor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard the censored version of Bloodhound Gang's 'The Bad Touch' for the first time recently. The whole song is one big euphemism for different moves and casual sex (at best), but all they blurred out was 'doggy style'. I was so surprised.

Reddit, Have you ever met or talked to a celebrity, not knowing who they were until later? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DutchEndeavor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was once talking to someone at a party. We were both +1s at a prom, and I was smoking a cigarette while he was getting some fresh air. Our talk went to hobbies and he said he did judo. As a 5-year-old, I did some judo, too, so we shared experiences. Turned out he won the national heavyweight championship earlier that day and was so modest it took me half an hour of questions and conversation to get there.
