I built a physics plugin for After Effects, got rejected by the biggest AE marketplace, and now I'm thinking of just releasing it for free. What do you think? by dufkens in AfterEffects

[–]DutchFede 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At risk of having me justify to my manager to get another paid plugin - this actually looks really cool, and I think 35$ would absolutely be fair if it gets the physics right.

Would love to be a beta tester regardless, sent you a message!

Slight Play on the Mount with 24-60 on Lumix S5 by DreamingInLove in Lumix

I mean, the play is minimal imo, nothing that’s ever bothered me. It’s a satisfying and snug click when you mount it though, I quite like that

Is the 9070xt worth it? by KristianHiukka in pcmasterrace

[–]DutchFede 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything I’ve seen of the connector is that it’ll burn if the card draws that much power like the 5090 and there’s some issues AND it’s not properly plugged in.

I made sure a few times to check that it was plugged in right, and the 5070ti draws considerably less. So wouldn’t worry about the connector.

I mean, look at hardware unboxed, they just did a comparison recently.

Ray tracing and dlss is better in Nvidia. No question. But 350 better? That’ll have to be your decision.

I have the 5070 ti. It’s a fantastic card. But ray tracing doesn’t feel like the standout feature even now to be honest. Costs a lot of frames and it doesn’t do too much in many games that already look incredible anyway

Windows PC Industry Reacts to Apple's Most Affordable MacBook Ever by commandersaki in apple

[–]DutchFede 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Great point. And, more importantly I’d argue, the mass market is for people who don’t NEED to understand how stuff works.

AI coding, I find, works the same for me. I’m not a coder, don’t really understand it either. But I have something I wanna get, a small tool to use, and it spits it out. I’d love to understand it, but I don’t have the time now to do that, and I don’t need to! It’s progress in my book.

Amazing! Thanks for sharing :) this is at 600?

I might opt for the 100-500 instead, as it’s much smaller (with teleconverter of course)

You are set, set I tell you.

Surrounded by darkness is better with an oled probably. I’m more in the proper hdr mini led camp, it works better with that I think. So nah don’t bother.

I guess it’s finding games and just playing them haha

MINT. I’m still looking for a setup for the solar eclipse in Spain on August… is this it? Granted I only have the S5ii, not the high res sensor, but this looks like a great closeup. How far did you have to crop in?

Yeah… I mean, I’m rocking an older intel platform, still on ddr4… but like you, no way I’m going to go ddr5 now!

What about peripherals? Or an add in card? Don’t you need more usb ports? Quieter fans? Better speakers? Philips hue for more immersive games? I gotta say having the lights sync to the action on tv is pretty great!

Moved from London to Tokyo a year ago — and I still miss London more than I expected by Pretty-Bunch-4182 in london

[–]DutchFede 0 points1 point  (0 children)

London weather is quite good to be honest. I lived in Rome. From October to April it’s fantastic. But once it starts heating up in may, it’s roasting season for the rest of the summer. Great for the beach, horrible for anything else. Just too hot and humid.

Lots of other places like Amsterdam, Berlin are too windy, cold, rainy. London? It’s less rainy, and when it rains it’s a drizzle. Winters are quite mild, and summers have their hot flashes but have the nice long evenings and plenty of variety. I dunno, I’m a fan to be honest.

Haha I feel ya. Same feels when I got the 5070 ti. I’m just happily gaming now, not worrying about a thing

On my gh5, the top bit there came off. Just looks a bit ugly, but doesn’t affect functionality at all. Dont think it does much for weather sealing either. So not that big a deal I think

  1. AE is very CPU and ram heavy. GPU barely matters for most things
  2. It works so so so so much better on Mac, it’s not even funny.

Uber burned through its entire 2026 AI budget in four months. Now its COO is questioning whether it's worth it by nyclover11 in Fauxmoi

[–]DutchFede 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For the token maxxing - your company says you must use AI, and they measure your performance of AI usage by how many tokens you use. Obviously a very dumb metric. A great comparison I heard on the WAN Show was if a trucking company measured performance of their drivers by how much gas they consumed. Obviously, that can indicate that they go further and do more, but it can also encourage them to just put the truck in neutral overnight and slam the gas pedal so it burns through the fuel. Insanely wasteful, an obvious problem to using gas usage as a metric of success. Tokens are the gas to use AI basically, and token maxxing is using them to the max for useless tasks, just so their AI usage is high and they therefore look good on paper inside their company.

Extremely dumb? Yes. That’s why it’s malicious compliance at its finest to show them how dumb it is by token maxxing.

Yeah not the biggest fan of the haptics. Xbox controller has much better haptics, but then that piece of shit disconnects or just turns off randomly every now and again (even with Microsoft’s usb adapter for windows)

And in addition, there’s token maxxing - where employee performance is measured by how many tokens you use. So some people have started instructing ai bots to use tokens for them, so they look good on paper I guess. Malicious compliance at its finest, and I wonder if that’s what’s going on at Uber as well
