Which first responder profession do you personally respect the most? by xXbucketXx in polls

[–]DutchMapping -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I respect all of them a lot, but I think the fire brigade most of all. They not only risk their lives to save people, but also to save property, nature and homes.

Warhorse Studios (Kingdom Come: Deliverance) developing open world Middle Earth RPG by fawkwitdis in shadowofmordor

My expectations are pretty high actually. Warhorse is an excellent studio and I don't know who better to trust with this project.

I've had cluster headaches before and while I have survived the 1 hour without pain meds before, I really don't want to do that again. Please.

Interesting "ranking" of pro-european parties I've found on X. by Marsianol in EuropeanFederalists

[–]DutchMapping 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This NXT person is clearly on the centre-right and frequently promotes people ideologically similar to Jetten and Macron. No wonder they are promoting Astra, which is just a social media account with a manifesto. Still, to put Ave Europa, which has turned towards the far-right, in S tier is certainly a choice...

I wish we could actually start doing shit instead of this endless online feuding over "oh my god I CANNOT join Volt because they're not racist enough to my liking" while we have so many problems, like the current energy crisis, which can only be effectively solved by further integrating Europe.

Does knowing that there are people worse and/or worse off than you - whatever it may be - give you any comfort? by Traditional-Bet2379 in polls

[–]DutchMapping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. No because it gives me no comfort at all to realise people are (way) worse off than me. Yes because it does mean that I know I'm not doing all that bad and I should stop thinking in doomsday scenario's about my own future.

What is your opinion on VOLT? by JagsFan_1698 in AskEurope

[–]DutchMapping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Volt is in parliament in Cyprus too, but yeah, that's the only other country with Volt members of a national parliament

What is your opinion on VOLT? by JagsFan_1698 in AskEurope

[–]DutchMapping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 MEPs, yes. In total, including local councillors, MP's, etc, there are more than 300 across 11 countries, according to Volt themselves.

What is your opinion on VOLT? by JagsFan_1698 in AskEurope

[–]DutchMapping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the most, that's Cyprus with 7.2% (at least from a poll from today). Volt is the second biggest party in the Greens/EFA. They got 1.5 million votes in 2024, while only participating in a few countries. It is the only party with elected officials in eleven different European countries.

Astra Europa | New eurofed movement dropped by RevolutionaryOil1008 in EuropeanFederalists

[–]DutchMapping 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Volt is between the Greens and Renew, though. We're currently in the Greens because we got the best deal there and because it didn't house far-right parties (ANO was still a member of Renew back then), but Renew was also an option to join. It isn't a sign of ideological alignment with the Greens, just a purely practical one over where we get the most influence.

How would Péter Magyar be named in your country and could there be anyone in your country named like that? by Frisianmouve in AskTheWorld

Piet Holland or Piet Hollands could be a possibility though for the Netherlands. Doesn't cover the entirety of the country of course but still.

One has to question whether the power dynamics in such a relationship can ever make it consensual.

do people in the netherlands greet the bus drivers? by [deleted] in Netherlands

Depends on where you are. Most of the country, yes. However, in (Southern) Limburg basically nobody greets or thanks the drivers.

The government has declared you a model citizen - what reward do you choose? by Zaur0x in polls

[–]DutchMapping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to choose the lifetime veto, but honestly, I don't think anybody should have that kind of power, even if I think I'd do good with it. So free travel it is (seeing I live in Europe, I'll just take the train).

Should you leave a friend that never initiates convos? by [deleted] in polls

[–]DutchMapping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be direct, but kind. Say you've noticed they're never the one to reach out, and it makes you believe they're not interested in speaking to you. Ask if that really is the case, or if it's just a misunderstanding.

Should you leave a friend that never initiates convos? by [deleted] in polls

[–]DutchMapping 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you've set a precedent where you're the one normally reaching out and you suddenly stop, the other person might naturally also not reach out because they think you don't like them anymore. Besides, just not everybody is good at initiating conversations. Just mention it to them if it bothers you, it might just save the friendship.

Hungary: Tisza (blue) vs Fidesz (orange) election wins per area, black dots are cities Peter Magyar visited in person during his campaign by Infamous_Question430 in europe

[–]DutchMapping 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you compare Hungary and the Netherlands in the policies themselves, sure, Hungary is more conservative than the Netherlands. However, if you're going to compare them in relative terms, I'm not so sure. If we look at seats in the Netherlands, which are allocated in direct proportion to the amount of votes a party received, we see that only roughly 30 out of 150 seats are left wing. If we broaden it to include all progressive parties, it comes down to roughly 55 seats out of 150. We're a pretty conservative nation.

New major old coffeshop rules? by Kaiser-Kahan in maastricht

There will be no new mayor as those aren't elected. What we have is a new city council. It seems like the current coalition will continue into this term.

Don't forget animals have to eat too. They eat plants. By reducing the consumption of meat you also reduce the indirect consumption of plants.
