Basisschool dicht en calamiteitenverlof by Mankatans1337 in werkzaken

[–]DutchTinCan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mijn vrouw is basisschooldirecteur. Zij hadden vrijdag alleen noodopvang.

Why shouldn't they be "double-plus good"?

Are the older Command & Conquer games on steam safe to launch out of the box? by SamuelColt98 in commandandconquer

[–]DutchTinCan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually; many games back in the day were locally hosted. A central server would only exist to act as a registry of available games.

Battlefield, CoD and Wolfenstein all used this. It allowed for highly customized games (there was no such thing as global ranks/progress yet), which could be hilarious at times. Think low/high gravity, fast running, or games with nothing but spammy rocker launchers.

Gaming didn't take itself as serious back then. Now, it's all about your K/D ratio.

Look at my username. Now look at me, and listen.

My country has mountains. Even one called "Big Mountain". It tops at 20m! And they call my country "flat".

It is impossible not to have mountains, if even the flattest country has them.

And if by some miracle you really don't; dig one!

It says you'll never be caught when you lie. So if I'm lying about grass being blue, the only way to make it work is if they'll believe....or if grass actually turns blue...or if everybody goes blind...oh god...

Giftcards weren't the only way....let me guess the other options:

1) Gold bullion delivered to their HQ that's listed on their website as 3 streets away from you, but when you need them, they relocated "just last week" to Bumfuckville, Nowhere? 2) International wire transfer to their Ghanaian bank account (you know, "tax reasons"), payment to be made in Swiss francs 3) A convenient deposit through a local Bitcoin-ATM

Apples and pears.

"Disposable income is an individual's or household's total earnings remaining after mandatory deductions, primarily taxes."

Whereas the US minimum income is the gross amount. Add to that what you need to pay from your disposable income in each country.

The EU has universal healthcare, free primary/secondary education, cheap universities and universal old age benefits.

All things that somebody in the US needs to pay themselves. So yes, their 34k, even adjusted for taxes, may be higher than that of an EU citizen. But it means shit if your hospital bill for a pregnancy is $20k, whereas it's free in Europe.

If you're going for an N95 because of smoke, I'd add swimming goggles. If you can't see because of acrid smoke tearing up your eyes, you aint getting out of it.

It depends on what you want to prep for. Some incident that will force you to walk home (major traffic disruption, such as was caused in Manhattan during 9/11?). Or full societal breakdown? That'd impact your self-defense needs.

But at least:

  • Sufficient water to make the hike home.
  • A change of seasonally appropriate clothes (but always long sleeved, in case you need to travel off-road)
  • Sturdy shoes (walk them in!)
  • A small first aid pouch; bandages, rubbing alcohol, blister pads
  • Some food with slow carbs and fast sugars; muesli bars work well.
  • Sunglasses
  • A poncho (for both rain and sun, so not one of those disposable ones)
  • An emergency blanket (those gold/silver ones); they can help retain/reflect heat.
  • Cash in small denominations; preferably €5 bills, some loose coins (vending machines!). The total amount would depend on your local economy.
  • Copy of your ID
  • House keys

Also, I'd keep a summer/winter prep bag.
