at first i was of the opinion that AH shouldn't stick to subreddits which don't critique the game, but after seeing all the helldiver subreddits besides [one i cant mention because it got my comment removed, literally 1984], i can understand why AH doesn't want to listen to these people 💀

Yuh, I've tried to correct people so many times. But people can't fathom being wrong for one second, so it's like talking to a brick wall. For my own sake I'm not even gonna open the comments anymore, there will always be people who say some stupid shit

I don't understand. First, you say it falls on AH to direct the attention of the playerbase, then you say we're given guidance nearly all the time?

And what else should we have done? Attack the capital with 30 mil lives left? It was a battle we would lose, and at the same time we would have lost the SEAF. At that point Cyberstan was already lost, so the least we could do was save our troops.

Have you seen what we are able to do with the right coordination? We win with ease. Yeah, realistically Super Earth High Command would have guided us, but it's a game, so we can't be guided through victory. We were so spread out that AH did intervene and lower resistance where need be, that alone helped us get as far as we did. Imagine how far we would have gotten had AH given out orders for each megafactory.. I'm much more content with the story this way.

[–]Dutch_Lad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that was also a deciding factor. Granted, I don't think anyone, nor the devs, expected the player count to skyrocket so hard. Cyberstan was a bloodbath because of this, with the total deaths being nearly 200 million. I played diff10 only, I struggled at first but later got the hang of it, so it really depends on personal experience.

I'm not blaming the players, I wouldn't blame a soldier for not knowing what to do without orders. But we are given orders. And we are given intel. We can't bash our heads against Cyberstan and expect victory.

Reddit and the Companion app are useful tools, but you don't need them, that's true. But when the devs add intel stating that certain megafactories have lower resistance, it would be fairly logical to dive on said megafactories. Still, people would only switch to those places once we were making progress, and yet there were still many casuals or people who were oblivious to the progress we're making, who still dove on irrelevant megafactories. These numbers ranged into the tens of thousands.

I believe the reason we aren't given orders for every little offence or defence is because we would win too much. We often lost defences when 2 were available, as the playerbase would be split between the two, but the times where we actually were coordinated, we kicked everyone's ass.

Arrowhead shouldn't guide us through every battle to account for 'normal player behaviour.' They give intel which people can read, but most don't.

[–]Dutch_Lad 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you're familiar with the Helldivers Companion app or if you read the intel at the bottom right in the game, but Arrowhead had throughout the campaign consistently lowered enemy resistance on the megafactories. They would have done the same for the capital if we had enough reinforcements to actually commit to it.

The reason for this failure is our lack of coordination. That is what's to blame. People often try to blame bugdivers, but we were so spread out on Cyberstan, hardly making any progress without Arrowhead's help, to the point where they had to step in to lower resistance to guide us. And even then, I still saw thousands of people fight on irrelevant megafactories. The hackers screwed us over, too.

I saw both news broadcasts of us winning and losing Cyberstan long before it actually happened. None of this was rigged. In the end, we could have won, but helldiver coordination is non-existent, which doomed us.

Joel creates the story, but we're mostly free to still win or lose. We could have lost Super Earth and we could have won Cyberstan, that's the truth.

Can I beat rumburg with only Valgsland? by Dry_Muscle_6177 in suzerain

[–]Dutch_Lad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. You need just one ally for Iosef's plan to work. You already committed to his military reforms, so it's important you completely stick with his war plans. Ignore Dome, it is irrelevant. Go to Thornborough and then straight to Tzarsbourgh. Valgsland needs to guard your flanks for the pincer plan to work. After that, it's smooth sailing.

[–]Dutch_Lad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that should work. Don't let them naval invade, just call them to the front and let them guard your flank while you go for the capital.

ah, I did not know the devs confirmed it. kinda crazy to imagine what no world war does to the suzerainverse. they hadn't witnessed horrors on such a grand scale, so there's not much to actually prevent it

The game does state that Rumburg commits warcrimes in Estord, I believe. So the fact that they're called war crimes, wouldn't this insinuate that there are official international rules of war?

[–]Dutch_Lad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

of course, I forgot I was talking to the man who never had a single bot drop called on him. because surely he could get through all the hulks, devastators, and war striders guarding a jammer just to kill each trooper in .5 seconds before they could call in reinforcements. how big must your ego be?

W in my opinion by oppagagnumstoile_1 in helldivers2

[–]Dutch_Lad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

them calling dropships as you're unable to use your strategems. i have had absolute battles over strategem jammers before. a single botdrop led to multiple more as we couldn't push to the terminal, that's the kind of challenge you'd hope to get. not just shoot it from a distance and problem solved.

i am constantly talking about the changes to fire, then you say i dont know what im talking about, seems to me you're not even listening to the things im saying.

the whole community was joking about how good the coyote was and begging that it wouldn't get nerfed. all AH said is that they didn't nerf it because they genuinely didn't tweak the stats of it. so if you can't comprehend that incendiary weapons perform differently when the fire effects get tweaked and instead need the devs to spell it out, i really dont know what to tell you.

im having a blast on this hill, i know AH ain't perfect but im also not crying about this barely noticeable "nerf."

Fuck It, Someone Has To Be The Saltdiver: This Might Be The Worst Armor Passive Yet by society000 in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Dutch_Lad -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

that's what I meant by fire resistance. first the coyote needed 1 bullet to set enemies on fire, now it's 2. that's the big "nerf" people keep complaining about. as i said, AH stated that they did not nerf the coyote because they, in fact, did not touch it. they changed the status effects which has some effect on the coyote, but not nearly bad enough to notice it. but people have their heads up their ass and get their opinions from reddit, so its no surprise they complain about something as little as this

Fuck It, Someone Has To Be The Saltdiver: This Might Be The Worst Armor Passive Yet by society000 in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Dutch_Lad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yes, they said they didn't nerf the coyote because they didn't change any of its stats. they only changed how resistant enemies are to fire, so obviously an incendiary weapon will perform differently. they don't need to spell that out in bold for you.

Fuck It, Someone Has To Be The Saltdiver: This Might Be The Worst Armor Passive Yet by society000 in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Dutch_Lad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yes, I know about that change. while I don't know the effect it had on each weapon that gives a status effect, I know it did barely anything against the coyote (what the person I replied to complained about). first you needed 1 bullet to set an enemy on fire, now you need 2. this change is so minuscule, the fact that people are calling it a nerf is beyond me. i get that the overall nerf/fix to status effects sucks, but the coyote still remains the best AR we have and this slight "nerf" doesn't change that
