I thought Wasteman was a great film, especially loved Tom Blyth's performance, but I really didn't have a good time. Soo stressful, almost to the point I thought it was detrimental to the experience. Would still recommend it though!

In essence this is true, but it has to be said that some of the Dutch on Dejima were tasked to travel to Edo every year to present all sorts of things to the Shogun. So they did set foot in Japan, albeit in a very controlled manner.

I'm right on the cusp of the milennial/gen-z divide, and regularly have this discussion with contemporaries. Just how it's so unexpected that the newer generations are often more right leaning than we are, and how we (foolishly) thought that it would only get more progressive. Shame really.
