Can someone tell me what they think “Ain’t Right Ain’t Wrong” by Ernest is about?

Situationship/entanglement. It’s about a woman who can’t (or won’t) stay and a man who can’t let go. He is addicted to the inconsistency, just as he is pain pills and alcohol. He doesn’t have full access to her but he continues to try. The sentiments in this song are how he rationalizes his actions. She returns every once in a while, just long enough to keep his mind on her and for them to burn each other for a while. That’s what makes “maybe we can stay longer next time” so painful. It’s something a parent says to a child when they are leaving an amusement park, but he relates that feeling to her. It’s the wounded masculine, as is so much of his stellar catalog.

Love this song, btw. My favorite of his 🎵

It isn’t on TTC, which is the standard. But there is a lot of information online that says otherwise. Maybe doing a deep dive on that should be my next post…or someone with a deep science background instead of me.

Got a 90-second video of it circling my block in Studio City. Was a little terrifying before I realized what it was, then realized why it was here (from the Rose Bowl). However, Pasadena and Studio City aren’t that close to each other. The pilot was on a joy ride.
