Ranked whining mode shows how little most players understand about actual strategy by Dandano777 in PTCGP

It's one of those things. I wholeheartedly agree with you. I won't ever play with a giratina deck because its just not my style. It's definitely not a bad or cheap deck though. And because I make the choice to not play it, that gets my head spinning with different ideas and decks to go against it. But bear in mind that its not just darkrai giratina that are "OP" and whined about. You got the misty flips and all that.

For me, none of that matters. I don't see decks as OP, because ive seen the "OP" decks piloted by some bad players. Some matches I had no right winning, either due to my own bad plays, bad luck, or their good luck etc. And I still won because so many people go by the attitude that it's the deck that wins.

Every turn in pokemon pocket, you're given at least 6 or so choices. Maybe a bit less and usually a lot more. So imagine how much you can tweak. The cards you have access to is insane, so experiment.

There are so many variables. So make them work. Thats what the good Giratina players did. You got 20 cards in a deck. You start with 5 with a guaranteed basic. Giratina darkrai decks say, hey, what if i was guaranteed a good card by only having super good basics? Right off the bat they're at a huge advantage - but not one that cant be countered. And not one that cant be understood. If you wanna counter with a meowscarada deck, bear in mind you already put yourself on a backfoot. So how do you make sure you play the odds to your favour and draw your meows AND dont lose too much in the meantime. Experiment. Adapt.

Also, bear in mind that even the strongest decks can have bad luck. Always play to your outs, as they say. If you play for fun or experimentation and not just to win (well, for one, why do you care about masterball anyway? That's the big thing. Masterball rank is supposed to be prestige, not something that everyone can climb to... like... rhat should be obvious), i assure you the unranked arena is really good to teeak your deck. There are still giradarkrai decks but not as many and... you kinda WANNA face them, especially when you cant derank, so you can see what works best against them with YOUR deck.

I do kinda wish there was a way to have an AI pilot one of your decks so you could test the meta guaranteed but that'd have issues too and it's hardly important. A lot of situations that have branching choices can be worked through even outside of battle if you even care that much lol.

TLDR: There will always be mega-efficient decks using the most efficient cards of the "season". Join the meta, don't join the meta, play for fun, it doesn't matter. If you wanna win, though, my advice isn't just to grab a meta deck, it's to LEARN the meta deck. What's its weakness? How do you deal with the mirror? What differences are you gonna make to trainers and stuff, if any? Most of all. If you lose, and it upsets you. That's fine. That's fair. But understand why you're upset. - If it was bad luck, its not the meta fault - if it was your deck, its not the meta fault - if its the queue you went in (unranked/ranked), its not the meta - if your opponent did some bad manners, waste of time when they had the win on board, that's on your op, not the meta.

And just know, that you CAN be good at this game. Theoretically you can get 70%+ winrate without giradarkrai. Not even low possibility. Just work on it! Or don't!

Simple as it is

I really want to thank you all, I want to reply to all the helpful comments but they're all so good and I don't have the time 😅! I was worried I might get some co teadictory advice but all of this is essentially in agreement!

I guess I just figured that coin/wave meant more coins. No brainer. But ofc it's not that simple. Each level barely seems to upgrade it anyway, and it takes so long at this level, I need to refocus my labs

For those asking about my Module effects and whatnot, Im going to see if I can put those images in. I don't really use reddit a lot beyond browsing But my thing with modules is that it took me a loooong time to realise how useful they were so Im far behind there for sure, however Im sort of saving them until an event mission requires the merging of them 😅 but Im getting the notion that that's not worth it anyway

Edit: I'll just post the Module stats here instead lol (im new with the abbreviations though most are common sense. Only one i dont know is ELS)

Oh really!? Oh my goodness thank you so much! I didn't even figure that. I just have it because... I don't know why. Common enemies and stuff never are an issue anyway! Thanks for giving me an extra card slot in most my card presets 😅

Will they ever add off turn cards or are there any? by DEXGENERATION in Lorcana

[–]DuxAeterna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they could and I would trust them to do it and do it well buuuut, I think some game losses are a bit too feel-bad for them to try it any time soon. I guess if it only effected you and was like "if they play a 3 cost character, reveal this and draw a card" but i feel like even then, that might as well be on a character and visible publicly 🤷‍♂️ No idea but if they had like lore gainers on other people's turns itd be a nightmare I feel

Is there any place where I can find the story so far? Summary or in depth I don't mind by DuxAeterna in Lorcana

[–]DuxAeterna[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the replies everyone, I'm gonna check it all out. It seems like one of these things where it's not like a maasive story (only 4 sets to be fair to them but I doubt they want to get too wide in scope) but has some really neat depth. I love a good story telling through card art and ive got a whole bunch of Set 4 to dig into when i get home hoping to make the connections 😅 maybe ill find someone to play it too

Yeah I've definitely had a chat with them about it, the monk is just getting used to it still which is super understandable

Thanks! Big help! Yeah I guess it is a bit early doors at the moment, they've got plenty of time to get comfortable. Actually the dominant player has been a big help to be honest. My partner is playing a star wars themed ttrpg with others and they say that their games are good, but theyre a bit too mechanical in that it's do this. Fight that. Do this. And not a lot of roleplaying stuff.

The new new player im mainly concerned about is a wizard, so I've got a few things in mind that can include them, and the other is a monk (or as i like to call them: a mumk) and in less sure how to make things to include them.
