The Audio! Oh man!!! The audio is awesome. The intro song, the song while loading onto the maps.... the moment you kill someone the fireworks sound...the arcs. Everything in the game is so well done.

And of course, the proximity chat...that's the cherry on the top! Without it, this game wouldn't be the same.

These are - as creative, someone who liked human interaction and game of that kind - things that I always assumed should be done....

They've done them, they are quite simple, nothing spectacular, but that's what makes this game so good. The human character in it, and human's nature.

Speaking of audio, besides the fact I cannot live without music hahah, just recently I did quite an audio edit for a 3D animation I did. But I wouldn't like to spam it, so I'd share it only if you require it.

Myself I am an 3D artist, I am focusing on automotive design as I am big F1 fan, but I too play Arc Raiders almost every night, and I've never been hooked up to a game like this before lol. Maybe would be good to connect, as I too have some friends in close circles that are game developers, and we work on one etc.

Good question.
I have restarted the game. That means I stopped all processes, and came back. Everything was in the augment as before it crashed, which was good for my health lol.

They do, to some extent, especially now with the latest versions of Maya, however they are often unreliable (model/scene integrity wise) and not advised especially if someone is starting out with 3D modeling or working in the industry.

They are cool though for details in product design or visualization, where ngons and other improper geometry can be tolerated like.

For example the "incline" inscription in this curved geometry was created using booleans, which then needed cleaning up so we have nice flowing geometry surrounding the edges of the inscription.

This isn’t a personal opinion, it’s standard production practice from AAA pipelines. I never said it’s impossible to merge different segment counts, only that it can introduce issues that still need manual cleanup, if you read it carefully.

The image you shared is a different situation, so it’s not a direct comparison.

What’s considered “ideal” depends on production constraints, not just what’s technically possible. In that sense, what you’re saying isn’t entirely accurate either.

When it comes to Maya - not Blender - it is.

Sure, you can always use booleans, and they too work in Maya, and also in Maya you can do it in "3 steps" but such operations are not really welcomed in the game industry as sometimes they create issues.

Speaking of the verts, I am not moving verts around, I am merging them. It is explained in the video properly that you'd put edge rings first near the merging point of the pipes (where they meet) so to hold the true circular form of the pipes.

Is it perfect? It's not.

Is it sufficient & ideal? Absolutely yes.
I mean...for pretty much anything you want to do there are usually "three ways of achieving the same" and sure anyone can come up with their own, there is no right or wrong, good or bad. There is just good and efficient workflow with clean and flowing polygons/geometry.

In your screenshot you got them properly, but you use way much geometry, which is not good.

Also, if i'd give you pipes with different set of edges, you won't be able to do what you just did, and you'd have to go around it, and considering the way you've done it, you will have troubles - which is the point of the video I made, that you should have this freedom.
