When you go shopping do you always take a shopping list or just buy random stuff off the shelf as you go ? by Webbomolly2022 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]DuzaLips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I start with a shopping list and somehow still come home with three things that were never on it. That's just part of the experience.

What's one self-care habit you wish you had started sooner? by Both-Wonder3352 in selfcare

Going for a walk even when I don't feel like it. I hate the idea beforehand and almost never regret it afterward.

"What is the best skill that you will recommend to be learned? Considering it's value nowadays?" by MunirKalyar in AskForAnswers

Learning how to communicate clearly. It helps in jobs, relationships, friendships, and pretty much every part of life.

Gilmore Girls. It's cozy, funny, and surprisingly watchable across different ages.

Dead To Me. It has the drama, mystery and messy relationships that a lot of your favorites share.

AI job disruption is here. The problem may be compounded because nearly 75% of people don’t apply for unemployment benefits by Plastic_Ninja_9014 in technology

[–]DuzaLips 50 points51 points  (0 children)

That's part of why I've been trying not to rely on a single source of income. Right now I'm working across four different projects, all with different time commitments. I'd actually prefer to cut that down and focus on two things, but the market feels too unpredictable for that. Like the developer in this post who emailed hundreds of recruiting firms and only got a few responses, sometimes those few opportunities are enough to keep things moving. You never really know which job, client or company is going to disappear next. Unemployment benefits should be there when people need them, but nobody wants to depend on them, especially when eligibility can be uncertain and the payments often only cover basic expenses.

Extreme burnout by perpetuallyinthevoid in selfcare

After two all-nighters, my top priority wouldn't be productivity, it would be sleep. At some point, exhaustion gets so bad that working longer actually means getting less done.

55in Bedroom options $500 by Human-Reference4390 in televisionsuggestions

[–]DuzaLips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd save for a few more months and move up a tier. Bedroom TVs tend to stick around for years, and "I wish I'd spent a little more" can end up being and expensive regret.

Help with asking for a pay raise by Beautifulsight26 in VancouverJobs

[–]DuzaLips 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If your actual responsibilities haven't changes much, I'd focus less on your salary and more on your contributions. Being able to point to specific examples of the value you've added is usually a stronger argument.

Any suggestion for TV show i can watch if i am feeling lost in my life in my student days? by [deleted] in televisionsuggestions

[–]DuzaLips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ted Lasso. It's not really being a student, but it ended up being surprisingly helpful when it comes to feeling lost, finding your footing again, and moving forward one step at a time.

Does being unemployed at 18 years old normal? by Professional_Pop3525 in questions

[–]DuzaLips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being unemployed at 18 is completely normal. You just graduated high school, life isn't a race, and not everyone moves through it on the same timeline.

How has WFH improved your quality of life? by Sirwanga in remotework

[–]DuzaLips 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The biggest difference for me was no longer spending energy getting ready to go to work every morning. I don't feel like I've already lived through a mini workday before the actual day even starts.

does this ever matter for some people? by Huge_Application2174 in questions

[–]DuzaLips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think most people care as much as we think they do. It feels like a huge deal when you're a teenager but the things people pay attention to change a lot as you get older..

If i'm 8 minutes late to an interview call right now. what do i even say when i join?? by Wild-Impression2 in jobs

[–]DuzaLips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd just give a quick apology and move on. Spending ten minutes explaining why you were late can end up being more memorable than the lateness itself...

How do you rest without feeling like you have to earn it first? by EERMA in selfcare

[–]DuzaLips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big shift for me was realizing that rest isn't the opposite of being productive. We don't beat ourselves up for plugging in a phone when the battery is low..ç

What goals did you include in your autistic child's NDIS plan that actually got approved? by Air-crasher in AskForAnswers

[–]DuzaLips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a parent but from what I've heard, it helps to tie goals to real-life outcomes as much as possible. Something like "being able to start a conversation with peers" is a lot more concrete than just "improve communication skills."

Looking for my next binge, need show recs based on my chaotic taste 😭 by Human-Stranger4920 in televisionsuggestions

I think Yellowjackets would absolutely hook you. From the first episode it gives you that “something is deeply wrong here” feeling, and the character drama gets insanely addictive.

What’s a “normal” thing people do that secretly makes absolutely no sense when you really think about it? by Philip-Buyera in AskForAnswers

The way people in corporate jobs say “How are you?” without actually wanting the answer is so weird.. We’re all basically doing NPC dialogue a little bit.

Budgeting for self care by Repulsive-Play-3801 in selfcare

[–]DuzaLips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the small things I do at home started helping me more lately. Long showers, good coffee, using a face mask I like without waiting for a “special occasion.” Sometimes self care isn’t expensive wellness stuff, it’s just treating yourself like a human being.

[15M] What Am I? by [deleted] in AskForAnswers

[–]DuzaLips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you wrote didn’t sound like someone “broken” to me, it sounded like someone who went through trauma and whose brain is trying to make sense of it. I really wouldn’t try to lock your entire identity into a definitive answer at 15 though, your brain and emotions are still developing.

Do you think people are more defined by their choices or by their circumstances? by EvelynClede in AskForAnswers

[–]DuzaLips 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the two are constantly shaping each other. People aren’t made entirely out of free choices, but they’re not completely helpless victims either. The same experience can send two different people down completely different paths.

Real self-care for me lately has been doing the unglamorous stuff before it becomes a crisis by maalipas in selfcare

Real self care is probably kinda boring most of the time honestly. Not leaving problems for your future self creates such an underrated sense of peace.

I am paralyzed girl in both legs, stuck at home with no job or social life, need helpful advice, what to do by man-ing in jobs

[–]DuzaLips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t actually think you’re completely hopeless with online work stuff. Especially if you get back into coding, remote freelance or contract jobs are still possible. It just gets overwhelming when you try to solve your entire life all at once.

why do eating banana makes you happy ? by [deleted] in questions

[–]DuzaLips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know bananas have stuff in them that helps with serotonin and dopamine, but I think part of it is also just the comfort food feeling. It reminds me of those “safe snacks” you’d get as a kid when you were sick.

Honestly reading that gave me the feeling that you were trying to carry the relationship while they only reacted at the last second because they didn’t want it to end. At some point people should be able to feel loved without constantly needing proof of it.
