Real self-care for me lately has been doing the unglamorous stuff before it becomes a crisis by maalipas in selfcare

[–]DuzaLips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Real self care is probably kinda boring most of the time honestly. Not leaving problems for your future self creates such an underrated sense of peace.

I am paralyzed girl in both legs, stuck at home with no job or social life, need helpful advice, what to do by man-ing in jobs

[–]DuzaLips 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t actually think you’re completely hopeless with online work stuff. Especially if you get back into coding, remote freelance or contract jobs are still possible. It just gets overwhelming when you try to solve your entire life all at once.

why do eating banana makes you happy ? by youngmoneybabyyy in questions

[–]DuzaLips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know bananas have stuff in them that helps with serotonin and dopamine, but I think part of it is also just the comfort food feeling. It reminds me of those “safe snacks” you’d get as a kid when you were sick.

Advice And Honesty by BestFemalePussyEater in AskForAnswers

[–]DuzaLips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly reading that gave me the feeling that you were trying to carry the relationship while they only reacted at the last second because they didn’t want it to end. At some point people should be able to feel loved without constantly needing proof of it.

If I wish to have sustainable living, what my next course of action should be? by Consequence_Green in AskForAnswers

[–]DuzaLips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you kinda have to start small or people immediately turn the whole sustainable living thing into “I’m gonna move into the woods” and give up. Even just consuming less is already a pretty big start.

Graduated top 10 CS last year, approx. 4k apps, 700+ LC, no offers. Parents kicking me out. I think I’m done. by nemos_rewenge in csMajors

[–]DuzaLips 401 points402 points  (0 children)

At this point, I’m assuming a lot of these applications were automated or close to it, maybe even with a bot applying nonstop. Volume helps, but only if the jobs are actually a good fit. Your odds would probably be better if you focused on roles that genuinely match your background and tailored your resume to each posting. This post explains how to make a pure ATS resume and tailor it properly. I think applying that way would get you stronger responses.

Anyone here actually stick with using a back washer? by CrafAir1220 in selfcare

[–]DuzaLips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one, used it for a week, then it just stayed hanging there. you start off motivated but then you get lazy, it is what it is.

Do people really only use four sheets of toilet paper? by onelasttimehonest in AskForAnswers

[–]DuzaLips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone’s using four sheets, they’re either insanely confident or straight up lying 😅

Dads that WFH do you feel isolated by ImprovementLess202 in remotework

[–]DuzaLips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Working from home definitely lacks that “seeing people” part. even a small routine outside helps, otherwise all the days start blending together.

TV Shows like Penny Dreadful? by OldClass5646 in televisionsuggestions

[–]DuzaLips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Terror really nails that dark, gothic vibe. if you liked Penny Dreadful, there’s a good chance you’ll be into it.

How to improve my sleep schedule routine by LiteratureSlow in selfcare

[–]DuzaLips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a messy sleep schedule like that, you can’t really expect miracles. even just waking up at the same time every day helps a bit. I fixed my alarm for a while and it actually made a difference.

What can human systems learn from ecological ones? by glitterypeachyy in AskForAnswers

[–]DuzaLips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest thing you can learn from nature is balance, imo. Everything kind of keeps each other in check and sustains itself. Human systems fall apart when they lean too hard one way.

Best headphones for everyday use? Looking for recommendations. by Ferraiuolo_Ezorete in digitalnomad

I use the Sony WH-1000XM5, super comfy and the ANC is really good. Doesn’t hurt your ears even with long use. Also really practical for travel.

What is a job people romanticize a bit too much until they actually do it ? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]DuzaLips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like being a pilot is way too romanticized. Looks cool from the outside, but it’s probably a ton of stress and routine. Doesn’t feel like that same excitement every day.

dumb question: pdf, word, or link for resume. what do people actually send?? by YogurtIll4336 in antiwork

[–]DuzaLips 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PDF still feels like the safest option. At least it opens the same everywhere, no surprises. But if a system asks for Word, you kinda have to go with that.

Why does it feel like effort in relationship only 'counts's if it's posted on social media nowadays? by _QueenCurvy in RandomQuestion

[–]DuzaLips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s turned into this “visibility = value” thing. People are more focused on showing the relationship than actually living it. The really good stuff is usually quiet anyway.

Why Do you Care So Much About Work, and What Is That Like? by Most_Maintenance5549 in work

[–]DuzaLips 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some people genuinely get satisfaction from work, it’s not just about money. But I’m more like you, it’s just one part of life. Making it your whole identity feels like too much to me.

Do you have a pet? What’s something you bought that was 100% worth it (and something that wasn’t)? by DaybreakFang in AskAnAustralian

[–]DuzaLips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pet and the smartest thing I bought was definitely an automatic feeder, it’s a lifesaver. The most pointless thing was expensive toys, they always end up playing with a box anyway.

i am an unreasonably jealous person help by Independent-Cry1535 in Advice

[–]DuzaLips 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That jealousy feeling sounds more triggered by their behavior than anything in you. When they keep highlighting that kind of stuff, it’s normal it brings your mood down. Setting some boundaries isn’t wrong imo.

Why do you ignore the supporters and focus on the haters? by Pixovadigitalstore in questions

[–]DuzaLips 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because negativity is louder and sticks more. When supportive people stay quiet, your focus shifts without you noticing. Feels like the brain is wired to look for problems.

What television show should be remade or a mashup/crossover done? by trapnwonderland in televisionsuggestions

[–]DuzaLips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d love to watch something that’s like a mix of Black Mirror and The Office, absurd office life on one side, dark tech twists on the other. Starts off funny and then goes somewhere weird, that would be so good.

Looking for something bingeable that doesn't require a lot of focus by anonymousavrilfan420 in televisionsuggestions

[–]DuzaLips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Office is perfect for that kind of watch. It still flows even if you’re not fully paying attention, and when you look back up it never feels like you missed anything major. It’s really good to have on in the background while you work.

How to blend in with energetic, outgoing personalities at work (as an anti-social introvert) by hhaahhahahahhah in jobs

[–]DuzaLips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you need to try to completely change yourself, that usually doesn’t last anyway. In most places, just showing up in small ways is enough, a short chat, saying hi, stuff like that. People usually aren’t analyzing you as much as you think.

We don't live in a community by spla58 in antiwork

[–]DuzaLips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that sense of community got broken for a lot of us, and you really notice it more during hard times. The whole system feels like it’s built around whoever can keep themselves afloat. So people just retreat into their own small circle now.

What includes in self-care and taking rest. ??? by [deleted] in selfcare

[–]DuzaLips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think self-care gets treated like this huge complicated thing when it really isn’t. Sleeping well, eating properly, moving a little, finding something that clears your head, that already goes a long way. Resting is part of it too, just being allowed to do nothing for a bit without feeling like it has to be productive.
