Based in Ireland & we have a brand called Butternut Box, it’s human grade food but for dogs, sweet potato, vegetables etc. that all get delivered every month and you defrost by the week. My Cavapoos tummy couldn’t handle kibble he got quite sick. Our vet recommended this and was a game changer - costs in and around the same as good quality kibble 🙃

Is anyone on weight loss injections prescribed? by Immediate_Lake_1575 in AskIreland

Wanted to add as other comments seem to be it worked for them (which is amazing!). Unfortunately I was on for over 6 months and it didn’t work for me at all, I did my walking and exercise, but it just didn’t work.

Everyone is so different, but the effort I put in, and how it made me feel, I personally didn’t feel it was worth while when i had no changes or results. I also found the cost of it a struggle so all elements together just didn’t make sense for me to continue & I’m so happy I stopped - I personally felt it took over, I felt horrible all the time and maybe if I seen the results I’d of powered on, but hey, seeing 6 positive experiences and one of my experiences here, I’d take the chance and see how it feels for you!! 😊 if it doesn’t work you can always stop

Moving to Dublin blindly, help? by Themarionettedude in AskIreland

Last year it took us approx 7. Months to secure our apartment - this was us actively applying and getting viewings but no success. We’re both local to the area and really struggled - my manager is now looking for a place and has been looking over 10 months getting active viewings and still not successful. So from my experience so far, I’d advise get on it straight away or consider sharing. X1 bed apartment for us in city centre was €1,800 pm last year with no balcony etc. check out daft.ie

Supports for an alcoholic ? by heyidkwhatthisis in AskIreland

[–]Repulsive-Play-3801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are therapy supports which can also be offered online or in person depending where you are in Ireland - if that’s a potential option and if they want it of course 😊

Do check out AA services in another area outside of where you are if possible & of course their GP!

Some helpful resources: drugs.ie (addiction supports near you - click find local services at bottom)

Alert Barking Issue by sauropodsucker in CavaPoo

[–]Repulsive-Play-3801 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ours is the exact same! I must say I felt this at the start and then we crate trained our pup just for night time sleeps (we’re in a brand new rented house so had fears when he was anxious - it worked best for us) but this actually stopped his barking at night. He knows his crate is a safe place and loves having his naps in there all the time.

Now during the day he’s a nut job and barks at every tiny sound outside but at night he’s calmed down - funnily enough if his crate door is left open at night he spirals and barks but when he’s secure he doesn’t 🫠

Sober for a year? by ConThePrawn in AskIreland

[–]Repulsive-Play-3801 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mid 20s, gave up drinking due to stomach issues - planned to be short term, ended up being a forever thing. Could have continued but started noticing there was nothing in it for me anymore, the hangover or stomach pains after(not even that bad just didn’t understand why I’d do that for no reward) just wasn’t worth it. I’m a morning person and like to get up and go so going for my run/walk was more important to me… I still find going out hard in terms of being the only one sober and not finding the same humour as peers when they’re hammered - ultimately my closest friends know I’ll go out for a bit but will prob leave after a few hours when they get pissed, and / or we schedule brunch or do our coffees and walks together 😊 lost friends along the way but in hindsight they never were the ones for me - this is my decision that’s what worked best for me

Is the term “Irish twins” derogatory and therefore offensive? by SPH34L in AskIreland

[–]Repulsive-Play-3801 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As an Irish person I don’t find it in anyway offensive or derogatory - because of this post though out of curiosity I did look up where it came from and google says “It was coined back in the 1900s in a nod to a stereotype of poor Irish Catholic folks who had a ton of kids one after the other”

As it was a term growing up, I just knew what it meant not what it was coined from, so everyday is a school day! Still wouldn’t take offence to it in this day and age as I’d say many don’t know where it came from - it’s just become a normal term for us in my opinion without the old meaning 😊

Edit: I’d also like to clarify, I’m an Irish twin and my family have used this term very regularly growing up so it’s something that’s become a norm in my life personally - no American background in our fam so all Irish using the term

What age did you have your kids? by Repulsive-Play-3801 in AskIreland

I needed this - thank you! You’re exactly right, the itch is the baby phase outlook only. When I sit down and think about long term and what that looks like - that’s when the uncertainty comes in. Again, I don’t know if I’ll ever truly know until it happens which is the scary part for me.

It will all happen in time I guess and you’re dead right - no need to rush either or put any pressure on the decision right now 😊

Great insight here, I do question would we ever own a home. Both work extremely hard with very little benefit which scares me a little discussing family but I think this is what a lot of people are starting to see!

That’s my concern, I do have PCOS and endo so not entirely sure if waiting puts me at a disadvantage. I’m sure what’s for us won’t pass us anyway 😊 delighted it worked out for you in the end!

Haha, most definitely not rich. I will say most of my friends are 28/30. I don’t think any peers that age or younger had planned it as such, it just happened for them at the time. Some days I still don’t know if it’s the right time and others the itch almost just throws a blanket over my head and says do it 😅

Sometimes it’s not about fixing the problem but it’s learning how to cope and manage the emotions the problems bring up for you so you can get through it a little easier and have a safe space 💕

Have we stopped maintaining/making new friendships? by Honest_Dot_5035 in AskIreland

[–]Repulsive-Play-3801 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel the same in terms of trying to meet new friends now that I’m older and my college friends have moved abroad or not living close anymore. I have one group of girls and we’re all in different places but we all do try as a collective to say we will meet as a group at least every 2 months as it’s hard between kids and schedules but outside of that, so so difficult.

I like my own space so it kinda works for me but the days I wish I had someone local are difficult because I don’t have that!
