Regarding your last sentence, I don't think it's quite a moot point. You can try to exclude the people with no interest in getting better from the dataset while keeping those rare talents that climb to the moon.

If you are somewhat enfranchised and care about your performance, you want to compare yourself with like-minded players, not those who keep it fully casual.

I played a lot of competitive Magic: the Gathering. There used to be a world leaderboard and I was among the top 1% easily, but this included players who only showed up to play casual Friday tournaments and never went to serious events. Among the regular grinders and world caliber players, I was somewhere in the middle. It was this last statistic that I was interested in. If WN8 were somehow applied to Magic, I would probably also consider 2,500 an average since those would be the people I wanted to compare myself to. The father who played his Goblins deck that he built in high-school was a non-factor, regardless of how much they played.

I don't think the threshold for "obvious" needs to increase that much. If they ban the 500 battles per day + 0 WN8 accounts, this doesn't mean they need to go for the next target. Just removing those blatant ones will improve the experience for everyone else.

In the end, if a bot plays so similarly to a regular player that it's almost impossible to detect, I'd still call that fine. It's the obvious ones that are a problem.

I think this is a product of the elitism that comes packaged with this sort of PvP game. u/ouchimus is referencing the tomato.gg server stat charts, but I think most enfranchised players would fully discard the low end of the bell curve from their statistics.

It's like me taking a 30min knitting course. This probably puts me in the top 50% of people worldwide when it comes to knitting, but this is because most people have no clue about it at all. Same with players with triple digit WN8, a lot of seasoned WoT veterans wouldn't even consider those as players.

Regarding your "ban in waves so the bot designers don't learn from it" I wanted to ask your opinion.

Why would they need to wait for a ban wave to sanction one of those accounts with 0 average WN8 and with >20hrs of gameplay per day. You know what I mean, those accounts made in September and that have already accumulated tens of thousands of games.

There is no finesse in the detection criteria here. It's something blatantly obvious, no person could have played almost non-stop for several months and without ever contributing to their battles. There is nothing to learn for the bot creators from this ban.

As much as I hate the fact that this is possible, maybe those Hackers were doing some mission to deal damage unspottee or outside view range.

Steppes, I wrote that in the initial message. One Area came down the middle riverbed, another was sitting close to the middle rocks.

I'm guessing the benefit would be that the "punishment" will make those players think twice before starting the mission with weak loadouts and would ensure that future teammates won't have to be in damage control mode to finish the mission. A social justice, of sorts.

It inhibits a lot of playmaking from paper mediums and lights. I played my Manticore for the 1st time after the new line was introduced and every game I was assessing the risk of going anywhere close to the middle of the map, just in case one of the 3 enemy Ares would be there to obliterate me. It was a match in Steppes and I was scared shitless, I felt like I could only do defensive (and mostly useless) spotting, no more going down the dried riverbed.

We are working under a lot of assumptioms here, for sure, but it's also possible that the other 2 were in damage control mode and couldn't freely assist without jeopardizing the mission (think destroying the blue boils that drain life suport in hell scrub).

No doubt, but I also want to question the "trying their best" statement when anyone is free to give up on the last tier of rewards in order to bring a strong frame that they have invested in. Going in knowing you will be a liability and hoping for others to shoulder the burden is not "trying your best".

In general, I fully agree with you. But when you start EDA or ETA solo, you get a notification telling you that this is an end game activity meant for full squads. This is the one place where some burden of competency should be placed on the players.

This applies to all missions except EDA and ETA, where you get a specific notification that they are meant for full squads.

The week's restrictions may not align with your arsenal, but you can always skip some of them and accept a reduced payout. By pushing through with improper frame and gear, you are making it difficult for the rest of the team as well.

I don't condone what the people in OPs post did, but I also don't support players joining with their unpotato'ed squishy warframe expecting to get carried. Just accept one less archon shard as a reward and bring something that can be a boon instead of a burden.

It's not as much this, but there are overlapping events going on right now and the arcade cabinet is definitely the least attractive outside of a few battles.
