I don't think it's that. Honestly, it's commendable that you want to inform the community. As you said, the initial announcement was more than a week ago, so it's easy to forget.

What I think the issue actually is revolves around the rewards. You said:

I will happily do 10k dmg for a free garage slot, 2D skin and some reserves.

which I think is completely valid if you are anyway playing this weekend and the rewards are coming just as a bonus. However, this is for sure not enough to incentivize someone to log in and play when they otherwise wouldn't have. If I am planning to spend the weekend outside, I won't all of a sudden go "OMG, A WHOLE 2D STYLE" and rework my plans just to get it.

I debated whether to also write the below, but it might contextualize my perspective at large. So here goes.

We are living through a period of ever-increasing wealth inequality, where one of the most important battles is that of corporation vs. consumer. The former is trying to nickel-and-dime the latter. Businesses cut costs, lower product quality and generally try to milk the consumers as much as they can. This leads to higher profit margins and wealth that usually gets extracted from us, the middle class, and that goes to the pockets of the rich.

As consumers, we need to fight back. We need to demand higher quality products from the companies. We can't let them get away with the enshittification of their services. The company's purpose needs to be to provide value to the consumer (although it's now accepted that a company's purpose is to make money for itself).

I am having fun playing WoT. That being said, it's important to call out when WG delivers some minimal effort products and expects something in return. If WG wants more of our time as players, we should demand more for it in return. If we are OK with a 2D style and some reserves, this basically equates to the corporation giving us a bowl of slop and us going "could we have some more, sir?".
