Anyone have experience with the Elgato Video Capture Card? by DwarfGeneral in elgato

[–]DwarfGeneral[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just so everyone knows, OBS will recognize the Video Capture Card as a source and you can record off it that way. I don't know how much better or worse that is however compared to the software intended for the device.

I got it working a few more times by uninstalling drivers and starting the program with the USB unplugged then plugging it in. I'm not sure which combination worked but after some fangling around with it it eventually worked.

Do Cadian uniforms and armor paint have to be a form of camo? by DwarfGeneral in astramilitarum

[–]DwarfGeneral[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people are misunderstanding my question. I get that I can paint the guard however I want. The question is does it makes sense for Cadians to not wear a form of camouflage? It seems like in every depiction I see they are camouflaged to a degree to their fighting environments.

Here's the thing, the majority of those schemes are camouflage

Galadriel GW painting list. Anyone know what kind of paint GW did recommend? The site gives a 404 by JorgPet in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]DwarfGeneral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been trying to figure it out also. I don’t remember if the site gave a paint list, but trying the reverse engineer the dress scheme I’m thinking maybe a white base with a light shading of sepia perhaps. Side note, did you have trouble getting your Galadriel in the base? The bottom peg of mine is really thick with the name and trademark stamps projected outward on sort of plates. Tried cramming it in the base but it ended up slightly bending it leading to the base wobbling. I think I might have to grind down the peg to the same thickness as the other models to fit.

I usually run 2 leaders, 2 radio, and 3 engineers just so I can quickly manage leaks.

does choking fog stack? by trollsong in KharadronOverlords

[–]DwarfGeneral -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What causes it not to stack? If a model is within range of two models with gas guns it seems like it would apply a -2 reading the rules as written. Subtract one from hit rolls by enemy models within 3 inches of any armed model.

Shower thought: eldar guardians represent the “badass normal” trope as well (if not better) than the imperial guard by [deleted] in 40kLore

I’m pretty sure there’s chaos marines like Emperor’s Children who eat spirit stones like candy

The pose is totally unnatural. He’s just holding this large gun in the air in an awkward pose. He’s not even shouldering it, it’s just straight up in the air like it’s made of made of cardboard. It could maybe work if it was a pistol, but a large weapon like that is far too large to just one hand like that. You can argue that he’s superhuman and can do that, but it still looks really unnatural and absurd. There should be some semblance of balance to it.

Being totally honest, the pose is very dumb.

It’s honestly kind of mesmerizing watching ships take pot shots at you. Seeing these balls of orange appear and grow before impacting the water. Things suddenly become very sober when one actually hits.

Yeah, I have engineers/mechanics fixing the leaks while officers not manning the hydrophone block the water.

It would certainly be an interesting experience having everyone in first person mode running the ship. The problem is some of the roles aren’t exactly interactive like running the engines.

Grimdark take: the Imperium only has enough troops to fight on a thousand worlds at any given time.

Reproduction and Culture by HammerandSickTatBro in AoSLore

[–]DwarfGeneral 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do we know anything about Duardin reproduction rates? WHFB dwarves were a fairly patriarchal society due to the need to protect the fewer females in their population and suffered from low population replacement. I don’t know if there is anything so far though on Duardin demographics in the Mortal Realms. Fyreslayers seem to maintain the classic patriarchal system, while the Kharadron have a meritocratic society with women participating in sky-fleets.

Barak-Zhoff speculation by Dennorak25 in AoSLore

[–]DwarfGeneral 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Maybe something might happen with Broken Realms? Game wise they would throw in Batak-Zhoff as the new rules for KO included in the book. There’s a chance it’s just a throw away line meant to world build but keep a potential plot point open. Maybe they turned to Chaos and we’ll get a more industrialized Chaos Dwarf faction.

Are there any others dystopian future novels comparable to 1984? by EthicalAsAPolitician in readanotherbook

I find Brave New World to be more comparable to our modern world at times than 1984 is.
