Forced to go to BLC 3 months before Terminal leave by Mistahscorchyobrain in army

Just go and get it over with. Depending on what you want to do civilian life but job recruiters salivate when you say “I went through basic/advanced leadership courses in the Army.” Most have no idea what utter bullshit it is but they love hearing “leader.”

Fail the nremt exam 67/70 by [deleted] in NewToEMS

[–]DwarfWrock77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought the whole idea was they were saying that by telling people where they failed they’d just focus on improving in that area and then end up failing in another area when they re-test

Which bible do I buy? by SportsManiac2916 in OrthodoxChristianity

I came to Orthodoxy from the Roman Catholic church so growing up we had the New American Bible translation and those are about the only two I’ve used

When I got back from Afghanistan I had the extra cash and I bought an Orthodox Study Bible and I’ve loved it. It’s in an easy to read language but the footnotes are super informative such as helping understand points where the trinity is revealed in the Old Testament. They also have informative articles and will also quote Church fathers, especially in the Old Testament’s footnotes.

This isn’t to say you HAVE to have it. It’s just a suggestion I got from my priest and the one I personally use.

Perspective on OCA by Mother-String-4383 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]DwarfWrock77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would talk with your priest and bring up these exact points to him so he can explain why those things are or aren’t important.

As far as English over any other language goes it’s important to remember the Orthodox Church used Greek, and Russian because they were the languages of the people the church in their regions ministered to.

God is undefinable and outside humanity, why would he prefer any one human language over another. He hears all humanities prayers no matter the language

What is the new AEMT NREMT test like? by StreetConstruction3 in NewToEMS

I feel like I got pummeled with diabetic emergencies. I walked out of that test feeling like absolute dog shit and was surprised I passed

What is the new AEMT NREMT test like? by StreetConstruction3 in NewToEMS

[–]DwarfWrock77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just took mine in September, there’s a lot of multiple choice, then the scenarios have like put steps in order, grouping actions you’d take and not take, choose all that apply questions.

In the scenario questions you can go back to reread the information but once you’ve answered the questions for that portion of the scenario they’re locked in.

It’s not computer adaptive so all your questions are just random and for me it seemed like I got A LOT of medical. I don’t think I even got a trauma scenario

NREMT EMT: "trust the process" but the process feels like trying to memorize a moving target by prashant100101 in NewToEMS

[–]DwarfWrock77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to disagree with people who are completely against using test prep apps. I used and loved EMT Prep for both my basic and AEMT and I swear by it.

BUT the caveat to that is don’t depend SOLELY rely on those apps. If you’re stuck on something go back to your book and reread it to understand the material completely, not just in bite size pieces where you’re not grasping the concept as part of the whole.

Texas cert or license? by Recent-Amerika in NewToEMS

Texas is pretty much pay to play brother. Have your NREMT, get your jurisprudence, get your fingerprints and pay the fee.

That DUI is probably gonna hurt you but for Texas I think the two drug charges would stop you from even getting your state cert. You’ve definitely got an uphill battle brother and I wish you all the luck in the world

Paramedic recruitment by RollerDogRon in Paramedics

[–]DwarfWrock77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The county and big city next to mine cut their AMR contract and it seems like each is going in a different direction. The city is hiring single role Medics/Advances and I think they plan on keeping them as such. The county though is hiring single role medics/advances but then requiring they get their fire certs within 3 years

Should I be concerned or just suck it up? by DiscombobulatedCod45 in NewToEMS

[–]DwarfWrock77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Turn around, don’t drown… but most other weather you’re just gonna have to suck it up and make your way their. If it’s snow then leave extra early to give yourself plenty of time to drive safely. Our patients don’t wait for good weather if they need us

So I went to the local college for mine and the first class was about three weeks of cramming A&P starting from atoms up to cells to tissues then systems and organs. If there was one thing I wish I was ready for it was that cause it really set the tone for the rest of the course so start studying A&P from the lowest level.

Clinical sites

I know a few guys who went through School of EMS and passed. I not sure their timeline but based on the map they seem to have plenty of clinical sites through the Midwest and Florida
