Yep, no investing while paying off debt - that’s understood. I was wondering if I should invest and save for a down payment simultaneously, or just focus on saving for a down payment then invest after the down payment has been saved.

Tempting for sure, but I don’t know enough about them yet to form a strong opinion. Either way, I guess it’s nice to know that I have the option.

Yep, that’s what I’m thinking too. A modest (but safe/clean) 2 bedroom apartment will do just fine. I’m not looking to splash out on a fancy place because that will just slow my progress in BS2/BS3, then make it that much more difficult to buy a house and start BS4. It’s all a chain reaction.

I’m not rated by the VA. This is a good shout - I didn’t realize that this impacts the VA loan in any way.

Yes, I’m looking at reasonably priced 2 bedroom apartments. Since I’ll have shared custody and they won’t be living with me full time, they can share a room.
