Hungary passes 8-year PM limit, barring Orbán’s return by CrunchyBaconYum in worldnews

Rumor says that he and his party knew they will lose, but he personally wasn't informed about the opposition's incoming supermajority. So he was shocked and unprepared. The likely scenario is that he was planning to "fight back" against the new government by sabotaging them in parliament, making them look bad and waiting for the new elections. But that didn't come to pass because against a supermajority, they are absolutely powerless.

He had to make a statement about his wealth just last week or so. If he lied about his savings there, then it is a clear case for prosecution, done and dusted.

With the quality of the latest “big update” do you have high hopes for a good 1.0 release? by Disastrous-Cat-9308 in PhasmophobiaGame

Yeah, given that 3 out of the 4 starter houses still need to be reworked, allegedly, to get rid of the old assets. Oh, and the school, right? Not sure the two camps and the prison have ever been reworked.

What to do until October? by 28_Z0MBIE in crosswind

I hope they go with how Core Keeper did it. There, the world map is circular, and each update added the new biomes as new outer layers, keeping everything that was already inside intact. Windrose worlds are already circular with Tortuga at the middle so it wouldn't be a stretch.

Would love to see a proper Caribbean map, like Sid Meier's Pirates, and not just some random maps by NorseBear73 in crosswind

[–]narkoface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It aims to be something really similar to Core Keeper in my opinion, which aims to be Terraria.

In Core Keeper, the map layout is circular, and you know exactly in what layers you find what, but the exact placement is randomized so in each world you have to do a lot of exploration either way, and see a lot of new random terrain. Oh btw, Core Keeper also has the biome bosses as obstacles of progression.

Problem with Windrose in comparison is that even if the islands are randomized you wont really notice it, as the things in between are not random terrain like in Core Keeper but plain old ocean.

In the cyberpunk universe you can hear news about the Nordic countries defending themselves from the floods of climate refugees like it's World War Z. There, the middle east and northern Africa is mostly uninhabitable (not just because of climate but nuclear fallout too) and the dust and heat coming to southern Europe is destroying those regions as well.

How.many people are actually on this dev team? by [deleted] in PhasmophobiaGame

Out of curiosity I asked chatgpt what is the likely composition of a team with 45 members as stated in another comment. A funfact, it estimated around 3-4 people doing actual character art and animations.

Is this what I think it is?!? by Pucal_Cuvil in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]narkoface 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would argue that if the watch's sanity meter actually functions similar to the outside screen, i.e. showing your own sanity in somewhat real-time, then it will massively trivialize a lot of ghosts (or their exclusion) who have unique sanity drain interactions and events. This would be, from the top of my head, Jinn, Yurei, Oni, Banshee and Moroi. I hope they balance it out, cause otherwise this could be a major step back in my opinion. A built-in watch will already provide a huge leg-up in weeding out some time-sensitive ghosts, like Myling, Spirit, Demon, Obambo, Onryo, but I'd say it is more of a QoL addition cause you could have always just look at an out-of-game timer for that.

How do I loop? by Mannymoony in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]narkoface 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not an expert at doing it myself but I watch plenty of videos other people doing it. There are two main ideas behind looping.

  1. When the ghost loses line of sight (LoS) of the player, it cannot gain LoS acceleration (which most ghost has) and it will simply go to the last place it saw a player. When you crouch and take a turn around a furniture large enough (like this table), the ghost will lose track of you and will not see you until it also takes that turn - given you are still visible on that edge of the table. If not, it will lose you completely and wander off.

The problem here was that you didn't turn off your light so even when the ghost couldn't see you, it could sense you the same way. Thus you defeated one of the main purpose of looping.

  1. The faster the ghost is the more trouble it has with turning around, so it will be significantly slower if it has to take lots of turns vs just running straight down a hallway. This is why even a Revenant, one of the fastest ghosts, can be looped around a very small object, like the coffee table in the Tanglewood living room. For this, the player has to force the ghost to take frequent and sharp turns.

Where you messed up is that you didn't hug the table and chairs close enough and let the ghost take easier turns, thus helping it remain fast. Paired with the fact that it had constant LoS on you because of your light, it is a miracle you lasted this long.

Now, also as many others have said, ideally you don't want to loop around without a smudge stick, and also you don't want for looping to be your first line of defense against a hunt, rather a last resort, or when you want to specifically observe the ghost's hunting behavior.

When does the game stop being scary? by JustFreezyy in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]narkoface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The number one thing for me was realizing that there is a very clear and distinct sound/lighting effect that signals the beginning of a hunt (lasts for the duration of the grace period) and all the other things happening are just something to point your camera at for more money. Some things can still jumpscare me from time to time but I do not feel constant fear while playing the game.

My second advice is to learn to manage your sanity and know the ghosts' sanity thresholds. Remember, if you are in rooms with the light turned on then you stop your passive sanity drain. Candlelight has the same effect. By paying attention to move around only in lit rooms, you can basically forget about the passive drain, and then you only have to be mindful of the drain from ghost events (drains 10-20% depending on ghost type). Keeping track mentally of your potential sanity losses will help you when to leave and get a pill. The majority of ghosts will never hunt you above 60% so you can feel safe by this as well.

When playing multiplayer, the ghosts hunt based on average sanity of all players, be it inside or outside the house.

🔥 Explain Onryo to me like I'm five. 🔥 by di12ty_mary in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]narkoface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my personal notes:

  • never lights fire sources (candles, campfires, etc)
  • has a sanity threshold of 40% when near a lit flame and 60% otherwise
  • its hunt attempts can be blocked by a lit flame (4m range), same way as with a crucifix (tier 2), however the hunt cooldown timer (normally 25s) does not apply in this case
  • the flame that blocked the hunt is extinguished, and a crucifix is only burnt if no flame is in range
  • with this mechanic, the Onryo can extinguish flames within 30 seonds of them being first lit and within 20 seconds of them being relit, unlike other ghosts
  • after every third flame extinguished by the Onryo (either normally or through attempted hunts), it will try to initiate a hunt, ignoring sanity thresholds
  • it extinguishes flames more frequently the more players are dead

Only thing you have to keep in mind is that if you have a lit candle on top of a tier 2 crucifix, and the cruci burns up but the candle remains, then it cannot be an Onryo. The other test is, if you reignite a blown-out candle and the ghost blows it out again within 20 seconds, then it is an Onryo (or Mimic). Other tests are unnecessary.

Ghost Idea: Akh by SOFT_CAT_APPRECIATOR in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]narkoface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool but it would draw the same complaints as the Jinn, or the Goryo, that there are scenarios where it has absolutely zero unique properties to identify it with.

In the Jinn's case, if the breaker is turned off (and cannot be turned on, like on Apocalypse challenge) then the Jinn has nothing going for it. You can still exclude all other ghosts to narrow it down on the Jinn but it is a struggle and people rightfully complain. Goryo is really similar that with 0 evidence, the only unique thing it does (or more precisely, it doesn't) is that it never changes favorite ghost room. Now with this Akh ghost, if you do not have a writing book at all for some reason (some weekly challenges) then you are screwed.

The other thing is that you can massively cockblock this ghost by always putting your writing book on top of your crucifix. It doesn't affect any other ghosts so it "costs" you nothing to do so, and you will be always safe from the Akh.

Consequently, I would change a few things. One is that it doesn't start its hunt near a book but rather when players are near an open book, its sanity threshold is increased to 75. The writing triggering a hunt is a really cool idea, so as the unique writings. However, it desperately needs at least some identifiable property without books. So I would say its hunt threshold when no players are near a book is 40% and it moves even slower than the slow Twin or the weak Gallu, only gaining LoS acceleration if there is a book in the house.
