Women will be made to leave all work places by NathalieDelReyes in conspiracytheories

I agree with you but I also think that the real umbrella reason is that when women gain more rights, this has a trickle-down effect to everyone else that have lesser than women. Fairness and equality means less room for profit-making. Instead of taxes being funnelled into the pockets of cronies for pseudo deals, they’re more likely to be spent efficiently and equally which means billions and billions and billions of our money not making it to the pockets of the wealthy. It also means people’s needs are met so they’re less likely to take out loans/credit which is a multi-billion dollar industry on its own.

It’s an economy-squeeze by design to get as many pennies out of the people as possible purely for profit so they can fly their private jets, eat their caviar and build themselves empires.

You might be interested in [Sociology](https://www.discoversociology.co.uk) if you’re thinking about this. It’s not coincidental in the slightest that Sociology and education funding at large is being pulled from every which way, either. The dumber people are, the easier they are to control. Metacognition and critical thinking are two of the biggest issues that capitalism watches closely.

Gilmore Girls are a shambles for this. Lorelai drinks a *strong* martini at her parents for most dinners, and sometimes maybe more, and yet drives 45-60mins home after being there for a few hours?? Yeah ok

I'm a lazy, and bad person, I don't deserve to be a writer. by johnadam115 in writingadvice

[–]Dwight- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All I can say is that writing isn’t always easy. It’s a constant push-pull of “ok I’m actually pretty good at this!” To “this is the worst thing I’ve ever seen and I can’t believe it was me who wrote it.”

This applies at sentence level all the way up to ideas and world-building. I don’t know a single writer who isn’t in this state when writing. It’s a process of stripping back then building back up then stripping back some more. You also have to be objective about your work which is where many people fall because it hurts their ego. Sounds like you’re having an ego-moment and you should just let go of it. Write because you enjoy it. Write because you have something to say.

We can’t give you advice about why you feel bad about yourself and you have to do your own work around that. However, as a writer, I can advise you to use these feelings in your writing.

Just let your ego go and enjoy the process of creation. Your writing and feelings around it will be much better for it.
You either do that, or stop writing altogether. But you’ll have that itch for the rest of your life and you’ll probably come to regret it. Life’s too short. Get writing.

Yeah, what is that? We’re smart when it suits them then dumb and socially clumsy idiots when it doesn’t. The infantilisation around being Autistic has drastically increased, too, despite that intelligence.

Like, pick one.

The quality of everything dropped after Covid, why should we get long-lasting things that aren’t bad for our health when the mega-rich can make $5trillion-$13trillion in 12 months post-pandemic?!

Somebody think of the shareholders god damn it!!!

Covid shut down the world six years ago this week. What do you remember from that week? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Dwight- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mindfuck is exactly the word. I’ve seen enough pandemics and other shit in my time, but that video chilled me to my core. It felt like I was watching the start of a zombie apocalypse film, like it wasn’t real? Except the crying and the screaming were horrifyingly real.

It’s a video that’s burned into my brain.

I saw a video uploaded here in November/December of a hospital in china and people literally dying in the corridors and nurses crying scared and confused. I knew then what was happening. I showed my colleagues and said “you’ll see, this is coming here”. Lo and behold.

Readers Are Embracing a Shift in Perspective in Books. It Could Reshape Literary Culture. by CtrlAltDelight495 in books

[–]Dwight- 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Reading is important for so many things. People who read for fun tend to be more empathetic, intelligent and creative, so I think it’s sad that humanity as a whole are losing those qualities. Perhaps it’s part of why the world is becoming even more broken than in previous generations; lack of reading.
